I spotted this restaurant from the Corso Cavour and was immediately taken by the beautiful setting. Soft jazz playing and a warm but not hot autumn day made it perfect. I had to wait for a table but it was worth it. Organic salad with truffle and fresh pasta with pork (on Carlo's recommendation) ... Both stunning. I was treated... More

Carlo unashamedly cooks *his* food and not for the masses. If you want pizza, pasta and like coca-cola with your food - you're in the wrong place. If you don't want to put a price on authenticity and allow him to show you his world - you will be rewarded.

We had a simple lunch da Carlo, just a pasta and 1/2 L of house wine. The pasta was home made and very good. Carlo himself invented the receipt out of the blue at our table and over exaggerated. It feld like a tourist trap to me.

Most of the restaurants in Orvieto are of a reasonable standard, however if you are asking locals for recommendations you will most likely end up in a trattoria that uses local produced but it is obviously cooked by a family member. The true definition of a trattoria. This is all well and good but at Da Carlos we found the... More

Nice place in a shady alley - looked promising and had good reviews - however on this occasion it failed miserably. We were a party of 6 and were given a table when promised - hadn't booked and the place was busy. It all started badly with the (presumably owner) acting like a funny wise guy and managing to offend... More

We walked past this place a couple of times and the setting certainly looked inviting. Unfortunately our eventual dining experience here was disappointing. The food was mediocre, far too salty and overpriced for what we received (compared to other places where we dined in Orvieto). Carlo seemed to be more interested that night in his group of friends sitting at... More

My girlfriend and I had dinner at this trattoria and were disappointed, given the many positive reviews on Trip Advisor and other sites. The setting (on a quiet side alley) is certainly very nice. But the food was only average and the service was, frankly, distracting and not very attentive. Carlo and his mother are voluble, carrying on animated conversations... More

The atmosphere of this place is great as it is set in a very small square down a small alley off a very busy street. The locals walking past and talking to the owner adds to the character of the place. The owner/chef was very attentive and English speaking came up to us and showed us to our table situated... More

My husband and our parents were looking for lunch during our visit to Orvieto and ducked into da Carlo to escape the rain. They were kind enough to find a place for our luggage and umberellas while we settled into the back room, where another family was eating (a couple and their two young children). We split a liter of... More

We were strolling through the streets of Oviedo around lunch time and were looking for a small bite to eat when we came across this Trattoria. It is located very close to the main shopping Street in Ovieto, on a quiet little square. The staff is quite friendly and speaks English well (no need to fall back on our Lonely... More
