Welcoming

We didn't reserve at a restaurant that was recommended and we asked the owner for another idea. He sent us to Da Carlo and we can't thank him enough. Carlo and his family moved other people and tables around so that we could be seated. Don't miss the caci e pepi, the eggplant parm and the... read more

A trattoria as there were so many in Italy and now disappeared ! Very homely , with good food at a decent price ! A lovely atmosphere created by Carletto ,the young dynamic enthusiast and fun owner and his mother ! The ingredients are all very fresh and of good quality !

I went early and was the first person there so Carlo (the owner) himself was at my service advising me what he takes so much pride in on the menu. The house wine he recommended, a red wine added to the pleasantness of the place. Carlo was a lot of fun and so full of enthusiasm. When I asked him... More

This small restaurant is in the historic center on a side street off the Duomo Piazza. Watch for the signs because otherwise you will miss it. You want to eat here if you are looking for a good meal at a reasonable price. The chef is young and adventurous within the traditional italian cucina. His bean soup is an absolute... More

Our group of 10 family members showed up just as the midday meal was ending on a special day of the Festival of Flowers. They graciously let us in, and served a fabulous meal! We put ourselves in the chef's hands, and he provided a luscious meal of 3 different pastas, salad, and wine - at a very reasonable price,... More

My wife and I visited this restaurant because it was recommended by our guide book. We arrived for lunch in late September on a weekday. We thought we might be turned away without a reservation. However, the overworked waiter pointed to a table for two across the passageway from the rest of the outdoor tables. He said we could sit... More

We had read good reviews about this place, and made sure to arrive early for dinner. We were actually the first to be seated. The food and local wine was quite good, though the portions were somewhat small. However, the service was pathetically slow. We needed to remind the staff (our waiter, Carlo the owner, and his mother) about our... More

We dined at Carlo's place in early October. A little hard to find but well worth the search. Carlo the owner is charming and quite entertaining. His mom helps out with seating and serving. The food is quite good and prices are fair for Italian standards. The red wine was drank was a bit sweet but we managed to polish... More

At first we were put off because no one seemed to be eating at Trattoria da Carlo. We were the only ones. It's a bit off of the main street and quite unassuming -- but food was wonderful and we couldn't have had more personal attention from the owner and his mother. Finally, other people arrives, both regulars and tourists... More

Looked an idyllic spot for lunch, down a tiny side street opening into a courtyard with outdoor tables. Unfortunately the food service and attitude didn't match up. Apparently all tables were booked even though a couple remained empty for our entire meal, so one was set up for us on the other side of the walkway, we were then ignored... More
