Good food

We visited here whilst staying or Orvieto a few weeks back. I had the duck and my husband had the Lamb. We did not have a starter or a desert although they did being us aperitifs before our main meal. We went for our evening meal and although it was a shame we couldn't sit outside it was a... read more

While driving north on the autostrada, we stopped at Orvieto to have lunch and stumbled upon il Giglio d'Oro. This was between the lunch and dinner service and the restaurant was empty. We weren't certain that we would be served but Emiliano was gracious and made us feel like family. The meal was extraordinary. This was quite a while ago... More

Beautiful location but needs renovation. The menu has lots of vegetarian options and food was delicious but highly overpriced.

Our family of four was driving from Bologna to Rome right before Christmas and we arrived in Orvieto at lunchtime. We wanted to show our teen daughters the Duomo with the famous frescos by Signorelli so Orvieto was the perfect place to stop, rest and eat. Missed the bus from the funicular to the Duomo so we walked uphill for... More

5 days into 11 day trip. This meal has been one of the best. Expensive but worth it. Every dish was spectacular. Highly recommend. The eggplant and truffle appetizer was perfect.

First, we were charged more for one of our main courses than the menu indicated but it was too late to go back. Food was good, service perfunctory. We were not impressed

Dined here based on other recommendations. Surprisingly it was quiet despite the great location on the square. Service was excellent and gracious without being ingratiating. Sat outside and enjoyed marvelous food from a menu replete with choice

This restaurant is hardly unknown and quite prominent in its location right next to the duomo in Orvieto ... so despite the recommendation in Fodor's I was a little dubious. However, it was lunch time in Orvieto and the place looked cute and remarkably empty. It turned out to be one of the best meals we had in Italy. We... More

It was Saturday night in Orvieto. Streets were packed and restaurants overflowing, music (Not Italian serenades!!!!) blasting away. We turned in the opposite direction and found a garden of tranquility, opposite the major Duomo. There were four other people. The staff of two gave us a gracious welcome. The menu had a variety of offerings. We each picked an appetizer and... More

Sitting outside on an August evening eating good food and drinking Orvieto at source. Friendly service and not unreasonably priced for standard and location.
