Caffè Poliziano Historical Place of Italy. This spacious and elegant Caffè in the historical centre of Montepulciano is a fine example of Art Nouveau design. For generations visitors and local residents have been able to enjoi a glorious view of of the Valdichiana from the balcony. Distinguished guests have included Carducci, Pirandello, Prezzolini, Malaparte, Mario del Monaco, Giulietta Masina,Ornella Muti,, Mario monicelli, Marina Doria di Savoia, Enrico Rava, Mauro Bolognini, Giorgio Battistelli, Licia Colò.... In 1992 the Caffè was lovingly restored to its former glory. Something different

If you want to see and experience something different than the many typical pasta type restaurants, Caffe Poliziano is worth a try. The interior looks more like a restaurant in Vienna than Tuscany. The views over the valley are beautiful. The food is OK and service is a bit stuffy.

I don't usually give harsh reviews but when I enter one of such places I have to give my honest opinion. We had bruschetta and pasta. Bruschetta was the worst I have ever tasted, tomato on top of old regular bread (it seemed to be some leftovers). Pasta was simply fad and tasteless. The only good thing was the view... More

We sat on the balcony overlooking the Tuscany countryside with the nicest bottle of wine recommended by Riccardo. It was a lovely restaurant with friendly staff . We were given little snacks of breads and other nibbles very welcome in the afternoon before dinner. We enjoyed a couple of hours here and read our books. Very restful

Had breakfast here on recommendation the first morning of our 5 day visit. Toasted cheese and ham was not up to standard. Tasted more like stale food warmed up in the microwave and pricey. Best thing was getting the seats on the small terrace (which is really for smokers) with stunning views across the valley and mountain range.

Really nice place. Wonderful view if you are lucky and the seats outside are free. Maybe a bit expensive, but the taste and the view makes it worth.

Went here for coffee early one morning. Wow! What a view from the balcony. Didn't like the cakes. Way too sweet for my taste, but the coffee was good. Great spot to take a photo of the surrounding Tuscan beauty.

We were looking for a place with a good coffee and stumbled upon Caffe Poliziano. Luckily it was late morning and not busy so we were able to snag a seat on the balcony. It was narrow so you need to sit side by side. The views of the rolling Tuscan hills are magnificent and one of the best ways... More

Caffe Poliziano has two parts, a cozy coffeehouse/bar upstairs, and a dining room downstairs with one of the best views in Montepulciano of the Valdichiana. Be sure to get a room in the portion of the dining room that appears to float out into the hillside. It's almost like dining under a tent, and it's an interesting experience. The pastries... More

Wow what a place this is! We got seats on the verandah looking out on the valley. What a view! The restaurant looks like a lobby of a big star rated hotel. The Crema Illy Piccola was a thumb sized shot of cold coffee enough to cool in this heat! Wow!
