Description: Caffè Poliziano Historical Place of Italy. This spacious and elegant Caffè in the historical centre of Montepulciano is a fine example of Art Nouveau design. For generations visitors and local residents have been able to enjoi a glorious view of of the Valdichiana from the balcony. Distinguished guests have included Carducci, Pirandello, Prezzolini, Malaparte, Mario del Monaco, Giulietta Masina,Ornella Muti,, Mario monicelli, Marina Doria di Savoia, Enrico Rava, Mauro Bolognini, Giorgio Battistelli, Licia Colò.... In 1992 the Caffè was lovingly restored to its former glory. Federico Fellini, who visited the "Poliziano" soon after, considered the atmosphere and style to be worthy of a great Central European city such as Vienna or Prague.

My god! We live in Florence, and have for one year. This was the worst food we have eaten. Raw sausage and all cold, didn't pay though, the only positive.

Spotted this restaurant during the day and walked down there in the evening to eat. The menu was on a stand outside, there was a notice that the restaurant was open, but the staff inside told me it was closed! Didn't bother returning.

Not a good food, looks like microwave food. Go to another restaurant and even if you insist to order something here, don't ask for the lasagna, the worst in the history of italy.

Just finished a terrific lunch! We had the Pici pasta (hand rolled large spaghetti) I had the garlic n tomato sauce n my fiancé had the pecorino cheese n pepper. Both were "super tasty" according to my fiancé n I believe it was our best lunch in Italia since we arrived 12 days ago. The view over the balcony is... More

Nice place with decent food and a great view. They aren't super friendly like we have have experienced but not rude either. The bed and breakfast across the street gave out vouchers to our wedding guests who stayed there which was a nice touch because the breakfast served was very filling.

We stopped here for a glass of wine and some snacks. The house red was astonishingly good (apparently, their family's wine) and really good value, even for a wine town. We also had some very tasty bruschetta type snacks -- perfect with the wine. Off season so we were able to enjoy the great view out the back window. This... More

This beautiful Art Nouveau design cafe in the Main Street of Montelpulciano serves delicious lunches with views from its windows over the valley below to die for. I had an excellent ribollita soup and my husband had a skewered veal dish which he said was very good. We followed up by sharing two of their delicious sweets with coffee. On... More

We were nervous walking in here. The belle-epoque decor and "historical cafe" schtick are appealing, but our tourist-trap antennae were all the way up. We were pleasantly surprised. The ambiance is absolutely transporting; you half expect Vittorio Emmanuele himself to stroll in. I had the Pici Cacio e Pepe. Heck, it's just pasta with cheese and pepper, but has all... More

I loved this cafe - the decor is very Art Nouveau, and even though it is not my taste, it was wonderful to see how beautifully it was done. The bar area is great and the locals stop for their espresso before continuing with their day. The view out the rear of the restaurant is breathtaking and a must-see. The... More
