Description: Caffè Poliziano Historical Place of Italy. This spacious and elegant Caffè in the historical centre of Montepulciano is a fine example of Art Nouveau design. For generations visitors and local residents have been able to enjoi a glorious view of of the Valdichiana from the balcony. Distinguished guests have included Carducci, Pirandello, Prezzolini, Malaparte, Mario del Monaco, Giulietta Masina,Ornella Muti,, Mario monicelli, Marina Doria di Savoia, Enrico Rava, Mauro Bolognini, Giorgio Battistelli, Licia Colò.... In 1992 the Caffè was lovingly restored to its former glory. Federico Fellini, who visited the "Poliziano" soon after, considered the atmosphere and style to be worthy of a great Central European city such as Vienna or Prague.

Unfortunately we were hungry and tired and lured by the panoramic views, our hearts got better of us and we decided to have lunch there. Bad decision for the following reasons: 1. The couple who arrived and ordered later than us received their starters first. 2. We were served our pasta dishes first even though we ordered starters. We sent... More

Classic Italian ripoff. Sit down at a table, order 2 cappuccinos (average should be ~1.3 EUR each) and get slapped in the face with a 7 EUR bill. Yes the view and the atmosphere are nice, but this is just another demonstration of Italian's approach to business: as soon the opportunity presents itself let's screw them as hard as we... More

We had breakfast here on a Sunday morning (and we have eaten lunch here on an earlier trip). The views from the back of the restaurant are lovely, and the establishment itself is very nice. However, the wait staff is snobby, and they act as if they would prefer you NOT be there. My recommendation is to place your order... More

A glorious setting looking out from a terrace over stunning Tuscan hills and valleys. With time on my hands I was delighted not to be rushed along by over attentive waiters. Fantastic wine and decent Panatellera (?) followed by a delicious tiramisu. Charming olde worlde building and a chance to relax.

My plate of pici pasta with tomato sauce was bland. My friend had a different pici which was too rich. The people at the next table had the same experience and really slow service. Saving this was the great view. Sitting on the downstairs terrace where you feel like you are sitting outside of the city walls looking out is... More

We had lunch on the balcony below the cafe, despite only half the tables was occupied it took them a good 15 minutes to attend to us. When the drinks arrived the wine was wrong red instead of the white wines ordered. The food was average at least one of the pasta dishes was lukewarm. Don't go here to eat,... More

This is a fabulous old world cafe with amazing views across the plains to lakes. The coffee and Dolche were very good but it is the feeling of old world charm and the amazing views which make this a must visit cafe.

Located on the main street half way up to the town square, this is the perfect spot for a little pick me up. The cafe has a classic Paris feel (maybe it is the art nouveau looking windows). The view out the back is incredible. Admittedly, you can get the same view from various public spaces, but not while enjoying... More

Nice place with a big balcony that gives a magnificent look over the hills of Tuscany. Cant remember the food but it was fine.

We had the worst lunch in all of Italy here today. This place is so over-rated. The food is mediocre at best. They cater to English speaking patrons (yes, I am one) but offer no assistance when asking questions about the menu. Our waitress was surly and could have cared less. We had to ask for everything. She just dumped... More
