Description: Caffè Poliziano Historical Place of Italy. This spacious and elegant Caffè in the historical centre of Montepulciano is a fine example of Art Nouveau design. For generations visitors and local residents have been able to enjoi a glorious view of of the Valdichiana from the balcony. Distinguished guests have included Carducci, Pirandello, Prezzolini, Malaparte, Mario del Monaco, Giulietta Masina,Ornella Muti,, Mario monicelli, Marina Doria di Savoia, Enrico Rava, Mauro Bolognini, Giorgio Battistelli, Licia Colò.... In 1992 the Caffè was lovingly restored to its former glory. Federico Fellini, who visited the "Poliziano" soon after, considered the atmosphere and style to be worthy of a great Central European city such as Vienna or Prague.

Great caffe, great view and interior from a by-gone era. The barista's have indeed as reviewed before been there way too long and have become a bit complacent. If you can overlook this, the pastries and caffe is excellent. Good stop for a group if the rain comes down.

Visited 3 times - great beer and coffee with good service in ground floor bar. Ist evening had some lovely canapes with drinks, 2nd evening had some of the cheapest, tasteless black olives I have ever come across ( think cheap tinned ones from UK supermarkets). Downstairs restaurant was not good - had a couple of waiters on the night... More

We visited Caffe Poliziano last summer and had such a great experience that we were really looking forward to a repeat performance this year. Sadly, we were gravely disappointed. We had booked in advance for dinner and were greeted and seated at a table on the terrace exactly as requested, so at least we did still get the beautiful view... More

On our trip through Montepulciano we went here twice. First time for a coffee and a coke (costs around EUR 5,50), we sat on the balcony and enjoyed the awesome view. The waitress barely spoke English so it took a while before we understood we had to pay at the counter on our way out. After having seen the rest... More

After the walk up the hill it was a nice break to stop for coffee in this beautiful Caffe & Ristorante. Inside reminded me of the cafes in Venice with very rich decor. We were fortunate to get a table right by the window with a view overlooking the valley. This is a must stop in Montepulciano.

We arrived here after the last lunch order, and they were very accommodating and informed us that we can order any of the pasta dishes and they will make it. We wanted a terrace panoramic view and top floor was full they and immediately escorted us to the lower floor and took really good care. We ha a great experience... More

Our tourist guide was saying it is the most famous coffey bar in whole of Tuscany. We have not visited all of them so I cannot confirm that. The interrior of the place is classic and old fationed, as I like. We should have however sit inside instead of being recommended to go to the terrace downstairs for having a... More

If you are just going for a coffee or for dinner ask for a table at the terrace. As the sun sets over Tuscany you almost forget to eat! The cafeteria serves all sorts of delicious cakes, restaurant downstairs has a decent menu with affordable prices. And the Tuscan wines....

Dreamy, fresh Tiramisu, nice cappuccino. The view, all-seeing, the decor, from another era, the music, jazzy. The waiter, a tool.

Wow. This place looks like it stepped out of the Austro-Hungarian Empire or Belle Epoch Paris. Big, grand, with spacious bar and dinning areas. Been around for ever and popular with the locals forever Only one table for two on its tiny outdoor terrace. So you have to enjoy the view of the Tuscan countryside from within. Excellent coffee and... More
