Great food in a romantic setting. One of our fancier meals on our trip. Great service. Spoken English well.

Good food, delicious wines, excellent service. So why are we still getting over it? Last January we climbed Mount Bromo (Java) with a couple we met on the HAL cruise. Fantastic excursion, fabulous company! You probably guessed: we met them in La Grotta, both their and our last night in Montepulciano. Fantastic memory!

Ristorante La Grotta has a fabulous location (the website photos do not do it justice) with an outside dining area overlooking the Abbe di Sant Biagio outside of the Montepulciano town walls. I would estimate that it’s about a half mile walk from the Piazza Grande where our hotel was located and it was a very pleasant stroll to get... More

Everything was excellent here. It lives up to the reviews. The highlight was my wife's pasta dish with truffles. It was loaded with truffles. Not too easy to get to so I would make sure to take a cab to/from.

The food was wonderful, as was the service. I had the sautéed porcini with were in season, and my husband had the panzanella salad which was a delicious version of the salad. I had for my meal he stewed local beef with porcini and swiss chard, and my husband had a pasta with porcini sauce. We had a beautiful Brunello... More

My family and I enjoyed a delicious tuscan meal here in elegant surroundings. We were greeted by a very attentive staff and served complimentary white wine as well as a small flan. Particuarly excellent were the appetizer of goat's cheese flan and the pasta with guinea fowl and prunes. Absolutely delicious! We then shared a Fiorentina with white beans which... More

We have come here often over the years, usually for a special occasion, birthday, anniversary, etc. And, we usually end up saying that we should come here more often. Our last visit was for our anniversary, and we turned the afternoon over to Davide and his staff. We had lunch in the garden and opted for the tasting menu. We... More

This was a fantastic lunch. Of course we had Vino Nobile. The tart was a great start, with the most beautiful bacon a nice treat. My pappa al pomodoro was lovely. The presentation of the bistecca was only outdone by the taste. Superb! The mascarpone mousse was awesome. Still trying to recreate it!
