Went for lunch whilst on a visit to Montepulciano's Christmas market. When went through door we weren't sure it was open but when directed upstairs to the barn like restaurant absolutely heaving with families with children visiting Father Christmas in the church a little further up the hill! Nevertheless, a really warm welcome from the owner and after a few... More

We ate here two different nights and had some fantastic dishes!! We tried the rabbit, pasta with fungi, pasta with duck (to die for) and some of their steak dishes. They have a cool cellar that you can visit on your own, and good wine! The staff was welcoming and pleasant. We spent a total of three weeks in Italy... More

This place was amazing. I had a little trouble finding it but that's cause I can't follow directions and took a wrong turn!!! The staff is so welcoming, I felt like family! The wine is spectacular and I even enjoyed the Vernacchia - I never like white wine!!!! THe food was amazing - I had pasta with mushrooms and my... More

we have been traveling through Italy for two weeks. This was one of the longest lunches we encountered in our trip with very poor service. The food is okay but nothing to die for - it's not worth the wait. The servers are too busy and not on top of the tables for a decent service. The steak was over... More

If you are within 50 kms of Montepulciano you should make an effort to go to this restaurant! Everybody is charming and very helpful...we had a perfect lunch and had a 3 glass wine tasting...also had a white whine...how can you drive after 4 glasses of wine! Wonderful food and not at all heavy. My wife and I could not... More

We've been drinking quite a bit of Gattavecchi wine while in Montepulciano, their shop is directly across from our inn, so we also wanted to try the cantina. Amica, in the enoteca, was kind to let us borrow two wine glasses during our stay since our inn didn't have any. We chose the special brushetta platter at the cantina....it was... More

Perfect combination betwen the owners: husband is italian and wife is brazilian. Oh, she is the chef too so you can find a great italian fusion. The atmosphere is amazing (local is more than 800 years old) and is duly recomended to enjoy the afternoon after visiting the beautiful city of Montepulciano. Ask for the homemade Spumante and cheese+salame table.... More

Good wine, good food (rabbit and tagliata in particular), nice view. Lovely place for lunch or dinner, close to old city center. Recommended!

We love Montepulciano and at least once or twice a year if we can, we go there and we book a table at Cantina Gattavecchi. We discovered it last 2012, we went there for my husband's birthday in October and this is now the fourth time we eat by them. We really enjoy the full mixed little bruschetta called IL... More

Simple Tuscan food accompanied by their excellent local wines, served on the terrace, by pleasant staff, nice way to spend a couple of hours.
