This place may have a bad first sight impact because vintage and noto renewed but is autenthic, traditional, homemade and one of the best. It is not chic, neither very welcoming but a typical old restaurant were there is not place for decoration and beautiful words...everything goes directly at the core: great food, big portion and cheap price.

Just off the main street, this simple restaurant serves home cooked food in plentiful portions that is very reasonably priced. If you want the house wine an unlabeled bottle will be placed on the table and you will pay only for what you drink. The only other diners when we were there were locals, even though the restaurant is literally... More

The reviews are right: the dining room reminded me of my Italian-American grandmother's kitchen, which is not a place those dreaming of a vacation in Tuscany would want to end up. There were only a couple local old men eating when we showed up. The menu is limited, without many of the dishes tourists might know. What IS there is... More

This is a genuine, authentic place with incredible food and wine at very low prices. It isn't touristy, there isn't a long menu and the decor is simple. But you're much better off here than at a tourist trap. Try the pici (big thick chewy spaghetti, a local speciality) all'aglione (garlic tomato sauce).

The food might be lovely at this place – there appears to be a kind old grandmother cooking it – but the dining room was so depressing (empty, harsh lighting and furnished like the 1940s) that – despite making reservations, we walked out before sitting down. Please update the décor/ambience at least a little!

This is the best place to go for authentic affordable Tuscan food in Montepulciano. Not a fancy restaurant -it is more like eating homemade authentic Italian food in the living room of a Tuscan family. The cook, Marcela, cooks you a meal as if she was cooking for her family. Amazing pork, veal dishes and the best pici in Tuscany.... More

If you can do without the majestic views in this tourist trap and would like simple Italian cuisine with the locals, go to Cittino. It is a real family affair in what appears to be the family home. Mama produces good simple Italian fare - the Pici is outstanding, and inexpensive. 25 Euro for 2 primi piatti, a bottle of... More

This experience brought me back decades. A family place (they seem to live there, judging by the fact that a young girl arrived during our lunch, turned on some cartoons in an adjacent living room, and started doing some homework). Momma cooks, daughter serves, and granddaughter provides the local color. Menu is classic, spare, economical and all you need. Primi... More
