Dont be put of by the exterior. Travelling with 4 kids who love their food was hard in venice as its so expensive. My husband found this place on the way back to camping jolly, ordered a take away pizza which was sooo good that we went back the next night to sit down. Quick service, great menu, cheap house... I heard about this place from a few friends who had been visiting Venice and the region, who said it was definitely worth a look. they couldn't be more right! The food was fantastic. Traditional Italian cuisine with a few little gems that I hadn't came across before, such as horse meat pizza for the more adventurous among you. Besides... More

My wife and I were really hungry and ordered a pizza, the 4-cheese pasta, bruschetta, and a large salad and shared everything. What a feast! The food was ready very quickly, the waitress was very nice, and everything tasted great. The ingredients are top notch--the tomatoes on the bruschetta tasted like they were picked from the garden right before being... More

My Wife, Mother in law and I have been staying at the Holiday Inn Venice Marghera and having eaten the first nightingale the hotel restaurant which was OK but overpriced we decided to try something else. The Al Calesse is just a 5min walk from Holiday Inn and when we arrived the place was already getting busy. We ordered mixed... More

We happened by this place while taking an evening walk from Hotel Roma few blocks away. It was noonish and only one person inside but we were famished from our trip. We sat down to the absolute best pizza and bruschetta in Venice, It was so good! We couldn't believe that there wasn't anyone in here! We decided to go... More

We found this restaurant by chance. (It was just down the bock from the Holiday Inn Venice Mestre Marghera). The vinegar steak was excellent as was the fresh tuna salad. But the best ever was the bruschetta. We could have had that item for dessert. The facility is clean. The staff was helpful and the menu was in English.

Authentic Italian food at a reasonable price, lots of locals eating there which is always a good sign.

12 of us ate at this restaurant on a recent weekend to Venice and for sure we didn't leave hungry. The food did come out in a bit of a haphazard fashion so we would suggest ordering one course at a time - we had side dishes coming out with starters, mains before starters and so on! . The starters... More
