Excellent Salentina Cuisine

This restaurant was recommended to us by the owner of the apartment we rented for the night, and we were thoroughly impressed. Like every restaurant in Italy (and particularly in the region), the restaurants close at certain times throughout the afternoon. We had a misunderstanding and arrived at 2PM. After explaining our predicament, the lovely owner (I'm assuming either owner... More

This is our favourite restaurant in Lecce, for local, authentic food. This is where we take friends and guests to show them what local cuisine tastes like. It never disappoints. The food here is so regional that the menus are only in local Leccese dialect and English - no Italian. The dishes match this profound dedication to Salentino cuisine, with... More

I feel I must review this restaurant although I didn't have a chance to eat in it. Here is why: on our first attempt, we arrived there at 1.45pm and although there were a few empty tables, an old man who appears to be the owner/boss told the kitchen was closed. We thought, fair enough, come early another day. Two... More

Reception and waiter friendly and reasonably efficient. Waiter covering too many tables. The food, however, was mediocre at best. I had what seemed on the menu to be a creative dish of yellow pepper stuffed with veal and wheatberries with tomatoes. What arrived had little or no flavor; the peppers were unrecognizable; there was very little veal and the tomato... More

We were a table of four and the table consensus was only average rating. This "Typical Apulian Restaurant" was recommended to us as a must try so away we went. Three of us had the trademark pasta dish and one had another typical pasta and egg dish - One thought the meal was very good however the rest of the... More

My husband and I rented an apartment around the corner from this restaurant and ate here several times. We found the food very good each time. The owners are lovely. It gets busy so go when it first opens or make a reservation, but do try it.

Having stayed in Lecce a few days and tried a few other places recommended both by our B&B and foodie guides online, we wanted to see how this compared. This is a step up from a few of the other places we tried, both in terms of the quality of the service, ambience, food, and also price. We didn't have... More

This restaurant specializes in the traditional cuisine of Lecce. The dishes were simple and delicious and the list of local wines was excellent. Everything was fairly priced and the service was excellent. Our hostess, one of the family who runs this place took the time to give us some insight into the old local cuisine and how her mother is... More
