Disclaimer: I really love small, traditional, no frills restaurants, so my review is of course biased :-) I went to Ferrara for a business trip and after the meeting a local person took us to this trattoria. The location is not as fancy as the city center and the outside is not the sort of tourist trap that many restaurants... More

The restaurant is not in the center but a short walk away. Atmosphere is nothing special but cozy for a family or group lunch. The staff is warm and accommodating. The food changes your impression of this place as it was surprisingly well presented and tasty for a trattoria. The courses were brought out a little too quickly but because... More

From outside it doesn't give you a good feeling, from inside is in the average nothing special, as soon as you taste the food your day will dramatically change into positive. The ravioli with pumpkin and cheese are simply delicious and the main course with meat is top quality. Highly recommended both for biz lunch and as tourist break.

I was recommended this by a local man as the place the locals choose to eat. Fantastic local food and wonderful service. Cappellacci of course. Wine and salami and cheese. Wonderful

This evening My wife and I went to Ai Tri Scalin at the recommendation of our hotel. It was a Thursday, and the restaurant was not full, so we did not need a reservation. We ordered two pasta dishes: a pasta filled with soft cheese and drizzled with Balsamic Vinegar; and Pasticcio di Maccheroni Alla Ferrarese. Those two dishes were... More

The food is typical of the region and excellent. A bit off the beaten path in Ferrara but worth finding! We had a special pasta filled with soft cheese, pear and ham and drizzled with balsimico, a ravioli filled with zuppa and served with a Bolongnese sauce. try the local horned bread--for twisted horns. The secondi was grilled lambchops and... More

Yesterday night (saturday) I was at "Ai tri scalin" again, this time with a large group of friends. The restaurant was also crowded, because of a couple of large birthday groups. Under these circumnstances, I would have expected a very long service time and a visible worsening of food quality. Instead, we had excellent food and a perfectly timed service.... More

"Ai tri scalin" is a very well known and largely appreciated typical restaurant in Ferrara. It can hardly be a surprise for local people and most likely it does not need a review to be chosen. I write this one mainly for turists and foreign people. Ai tri scalin is an old "trattoria" located along the bank of the city... More
