Mountain huts in the Dolomites often surprise with the quality of their food but Col Alt must be among the best. We were there about four years ago and I coveted my partner's venison tagliatelle so when we were back in the area we both had it and were not disappointed. We had excellent, friendly service although it was not... More

This was the best food we ate during a week in San Cassiano (and that includes St Hubertus and La Siriola!) Col Alt might not be the cutest mountain hut in the Alps, being part of the ski gondola building as you come up from Covara, but the quality of the food means a visit should be on your itinerary.... A quick gondola ride up the hill from town, the restaurant here is more sophisticated than the Rifugio name would infer. Steak tar tar was so tasty and pasta dishes didn't disappoint either. Service is a bit hit or miss, but the food and location make up for it. We made a special trip up for lunch only (we weren't... More

Well priced food and drink and very friendly, helpful staff. Wonderful views over the valleys and mountains.

Oh, and we skied too, of course. But the food! Yeah, these were meals to match the mountains. Even an earthly accident at this place turns out to be a heavenly design. Sit back and enjoy the view. Then eat. Then repeat...

This place is so nice, relaxing and has the best view. My favorite is "la fonduta", I can seriously eat the entire bowl. Great selection of wines. Everything is delicious. Pasta, meat, everything.

We had a lovely dining experience here with our 3 year old daughter. The staff was wonderful, the facility was excellent, the food was delicious and the views were breathtaking. Would definitely go here again. Reservations were important to have.

We had a hard time skiing to Rifugio Col Alt from San Cassiano as the ski map we had was not very clear, and we did not realise that the only way there is via the gondola chair from Corvara. We finally got there an hour late for lunch, and were immediately struck by the fabulous views and how crowded... More

Food is very nice but cost almost double of other Rifugi. I had even better food and spent much less at Rifugio Edewiss at Colfosco where they have two restaurants. one small and one large. go to the smaller one.

When you first walkin there is an alicart cafe with mainly polenta dishes for 10 euro a piece. To get to the actual restaurant you need to walk through the first floor and go downstairs to the restaurant. The dinning room was a bit smoky not cigarette but kitchen smoke. The is a good selection of wine and the food... More
