Looking for somewhere to eat on a Wednesday night we came across La Ghiscciaia on the waterfront. Our group of four started with the antipasto (earth) for all of us and what a great presentation and taste. There is also the antipasto (seafood) version. Two had pasta with seafood for mains, whilst 2 had vegetatian pizza's. The seafood pasta was... More

we started our trip in italy with a stop in civitavecchia. at the recommendation of our hotel we arrived at this lovely waterfront restaurant. we were seated in the outdoor patio for our group of 6. there was a local group dinner being hosted in the interior of the restaurant so we managed to squeeze in before they started the... Our last day in Italy spent in Civitavecchia until our flight in the evening. Found this restaurant and initially only stopped for a drink, but as it began to fill up with locals and saw the wonderful food being brought out decided to stay for lunch. Good decision, delicious bruschetta with tomatoes (that taste like tomatoes and not what we... More

This restaurant is overlooking the water in Civitavecchia. There were all Italian families eating at this restaurant, a sign it was a good local restaurant. The pizzas are big as are the salads and so yummy. The house wine was fine. The prices were not inexpensive, but the ingredients were fresh and well done. We ate al fresco and the... More

Great, really great. Had me fooled with the touristic look in front of the bay. Barely a couple of tourists were there, the rest were Italian families with all the great excesses of local ordering..."I feel like .... and bring us a variety of... and we let you know when to stop" I envy the Mediterranean culture! why we don't... Cruise passengers who wait in long lines to visit Rome to eat with tourists might be wasting their time. Stay in Civitavecchia and have an excellent meal at La Ghiacciaia! I especially recommend the Vongole and the Pizza, but ask the chef what he likes that day and he'll never steer you wrong. Looking over the harbor and a short... More

The restaurant overlooks the port. The style is informal and friendly. I cannot speak for other dishes but our pizza and salad was very good.

Friendly staff, good food. We went to the restaurant at 9:00pm, it was empty, we thought they were about to close, however by 10:00pm the place came lively all enjoying nice food. The chef goes around and asks if the patrons enjoy his food. Recommended.

Terrific everything except the owner. The chef Kamal wanders the restaurant making sure you enjoy his food. The staff is friendly . Highly recommend it.

My better half and I have gone several times to la Ghiacciaia and always enjoyed both the food and the location. I usually eat shell fish based food there (love the zuppa di pesce), but today we really felt like having a traditional Pasta alla Carbonara. We both just loved it!! it was extremely creamy and flavorful. I felt totally... More
