A nice respite from sightseeing

We stumbled upon the restaurant while touring the town, and were drawn to the free Wi-Fi signs. We ordered lunch and drinks and updated our email. The Wi-Fi was slow! The bruschetta was as good as any I've had and the sea food salad the second best I've ever tasted. The view of the harbor was a... read more

A day ashore wandering about Civitavecchia led us to La Ghiacciaia. A very pleasant location and atmosphere for lunch and a chance to catch up on emails and the news. We really liked the carafe of white wine that had a bit of bubbly. A pleasant and generous couvert was followed by a great pizza (quattro stagioni). We'll be back!

I was on my way to Sardinia and had an overnight in Civitavecchia to catch the ferry, I went to La Ghiacciaia for dinner, it was a lovely warm evening and the restaurant location is perfect, overlooking the harbour, I looked at the dishes coming out to the tables before sitting down and the food did not look that bad.... It is with some dismay and disgust that I have to write about this restaurant, my family and friends were on cruise holiday and we were in Civitavecchia on 22nd October 2014 and after having a walk about we decided that we would like some lunch and after looking at several restaurants we choose this one and when seated we... This restaurant is in a lovely situation overlooking the port. I felt very content sitting outside sipping a glass of wine on a sunny afternoon until the food arrived. I had ordered the "carne menu touristica" at 18e and did not expect much but they did not even reach those. I had to fight the first course of lasagne as... More

Cruising the Med we stumbled across this amazing restaurant situated on the seafront in Civitavecchia. This couple sure know how to run a business. Maximillano is a true gentleman and his life is enriching. He's an 80's guy just loving his lady and business. Barry White overtones whilst looking out to sea along with the greatest pizza and pasta we... More

Looking for somewhere to eat on a Wednesday night we came across La Ghiscciaia on the waterfront. Our group of four started with the antipasto (earth) for all of us and what a great presentation and taste. There is also the antipasto (seafood) version. Two had pasta with seafood for mains, whilst 2 had vegetatian pizza's. The seafood pasta was... More

Our last day in Italy spent in Civitavecchia until our flight in the evening. Found this restaurant and initially only stopped for a drink, but as it began to fill up with locals and saw the wonderful food being brought out decided to stay for lunch. Good decision, delicious bruschetta with tomatoes (that taste like tomatoes and not what we... More

This restaurant is overlooking the water in Civitavecchia. There were all Italian families eating at this restaurant, a sign it was a good local restaurant. The pizzas are big as are the salads and so yummy. The house wine was fine. The prices were not inexpensive, but the ingredients were fresh and well done. We ate al fresco and the... More
