Great Food & Nice Location

The food in this restaurant is unlikely to disappoint. The young chef is part of the "slow food" movement and the resulting meat is deliciously tender and perfectly prepared. The food in this restaurant is unlikely to disappoint. The young chef is part of the "slow food" movement and the resulting meat is deliciously tender and perfectly prepared. Plenty of interesting taste combinations. The restaurant itself is very traditional, and the tables outside looked onto a pretty piazza. I was with my family and we visited this restaurant on... This restaurant is very closely tied to the Slowfood movement which means they use local artisanal products, and the owner can talk for ages about where all their ingredients come from and how they are grown or produced. We ate an amazing array of starters, pastas made from all sorts of grains, and meats ranging from rabbit to local Chianina... More

We came here for lunch after visiting the Etruscan underground sights as its conveniently located near the museum. They were very friendly, and we got some prosecco and fresh bread with olive oil as soon as we went in (apple juice for the kids). The antipasti for 2 was spectacular (see picture). The menu is quite varied, and has a... More

The chef/waiter's halting English and our poor Italian made for an interesting game of understanding. A fun evening trying dishes we'd never tasted which turned out to be delicious. Worth the adventurous effort.

The food and service was great. You can tell that they use good quality local ingredients which is exactly what we look for when traveling. We thought they had misunderstood us when we asked to share the local meat and cheese platter appetizer because when it arrived it was very plentiful but when the bill arrived we indeed were only... My family and I were visiting Chiusi for the afternoon and stopped in at this lovely little restaurant. It is conveniently located near the city museum and sits on the pretty little square. Our visit was in early April so we sat inside. This appeared to be the only option at this time of year. It was about 1:30 when... More

I chose Il Gillo after walking the historic center of Chiusi and looking at many menus. The gentleman setting up tables was kind enough to acknowledge me and tell me they would be serving in about an hour. I returned and am so glad I did. I basically asked for him to choose the meal for me. I began with... More

We ate here twice. It is located in a lovely little square and we thought the food, service and wine list were excellent. Despite what one of the other reviewers said, the menu is available in English. The rabbit and chickpea rigatoni shouldn't be missed and the pizzas are superb. Highly recommended.

This is one of our favourite restaurants in Chiusi. The quality/price is very good, and the quality and authenticity of the dishes is very high. In the evening, you can see a lot of italian people coming there to eat some very good pizza (either rossi, or bianci) around a special beer. Pizze are really good with thin pasta and... More
