We could not have been more pleased with the total eating experience at Albergaccio di Castellina. Despite arriving late for the restaurant's normal serving time for lunch (our GPS was less than helpful) we were treated to an outstanding meal and exceptionally professional and friendly service. My wife and I each ordered a tasting menu--she had the Vegetarian option, while... More

We just lunched here and enjoyed 2 different tasting menus to include traditional but elaborate dishes, with a surprise factor. Delicious and beautifully presented. Classic interior, by no means cheap. Relaxing music and warming fireplace.

More expensive than many of the surrounding restaurants. The food was good but not exceptional, maybe that the restaurant was quite empty.

Menu is good, food is delicious. Wine list also respectable. However, decor and ambience looks cheap. Service is friendly but except the maitre d is unprofessional and not well trained.

The restaurant has its own car park as its about 1km from the town. It is very pleasantly set out and the staff are welcoming and friendly. It is everything that you would expect from a high class eatery and the prices in the menu reflect that so be aware before you stumble across this. For us this was a... More

Our GPS had us take SR222 from Siena to the restaurant which is a windy road with great views (for those who have visited California it is almost as twisty as HWY1 in Marin County north of San Francisco.) I got a bit car sick on the way up by letting my wife drive, so I was a bit concerned... More

...by the bad reviews. We knew when we made lunch reservations about the Michelin star. We had lunch at another nearby Michelin starred restaurant the previous day, so we were prepared for a let-down, or at least to walk away jaded by our earlier experience. We were realistic - the level of service and quality of presentation, ambiance etc translates... More

To many, paying over $30 for two ounces of quail and some soup would be a normal affair, but not us. We did review the menu but obviously misunderstood, as it's set up like a price fix by food category. VERY expensive compared to other restaurants in Castellina.

I wanted to return to this restaurant where i had a lovely meal a couple of years ago. But we were in for a bad experience. The head waiter or boss spook porely or no english and didn't bother to do an effort to understand us. We ordered Fiorentina steak and wanted some pasta as side dish , for a... More

We came back to this quite famous restaurant after some years and were not disappointed. It still deserves its long-held Michelin star. It was, as usual, very busy: it is essential to book well ahead in the summer! It was a chilly evening but people chose to eat on their covered verandah and as a thoughtful touch, warm wraps were...
