A wonderful lunch high up in the Tuscan hills

Castellina sits high atop one of the many high hills in Tuscany. We stopped at this restaurant for lunch and had a delicious meal. I had tasty home-made cannelloni with spinach and ricotta stuffing, baked in a savory Bolognese sauce. This was all washed down with a glass of mouth-watering Brunello... read more

The setting is nice, although not impressive. The dishes interesting but served in small portions. The service competent, but seemingly unused at hosting Italians or locals (despite we are Italians, the waiter kept addressing us in English). In all, we've got the feeling we could have eaten better (or at least bigger portions) and payed less in many of the... More

We visited for a birthday as it was one of the few restaurants in the area that served excellent food and allowed dogs. Although it has recently lost its Michelin star, I believe that it will get it back by next year. The meal started well with some excellent freshly-made bread and parma ham, some of the best bread I've... More

Without a doubt the best meal we had in Italy. We ate out every night for almost three weeks and the meal at Albergaccio Di Castellini was our favourite. The server and his daughter were very friendly and attentive to our needs. He also gave us a lesson in what true Balsamic should taste like. It certainly deserves its great... More

We decided to eat here for our first wedding anniversary , as we had eaten here two years earlier and had enjoyed everything about that meal, we were not disappointed . The staff have changed slightly, during our time away but the young lady serving us was like a breath of fresh air. We decided to have one of the... More

We chose some different platters and they were very ordinary. Especially the caprese was nothing great. Good quality tomatoes make or break this dish and the tomatoes were bd supermarket quality. The prices were on the hig side though. We would not return!

My wife and I had a great dinner one evening at Abergaccio di Castellina. The atmosphere was of the restaurant was unique in the inside, downstairs, and out side dinning areas. the food (antipasto, Primo and Secondo Piatto, and dessert courses) and of course the vino were to die for. We were given additional courses over and above what we... More

A well deserved Michelin star for this unique restaurant tucked away in the hills of Chianti. From the impeccable service, to the treats and table visit from the charming female chef, Albergaccio was a superb experience, the highlight of our 10 day foodie fest in Italy. The chef is not afraid of intense Tuscan flavors and hers is a bold... More

Another Tuscan restaurant where wife and son are slaving away in the kitchen concocting culinary delights, while the husband presents himself in a rather unfriendly manner contributing very little to what would otherwise be an excellent culinary experience. He really needs to get over himself. I had the honour of meeting the excellent and very humble chef, and felt sorry... More

We could not have been more pleased with the total eating experience at Albergaccio di Castellina. Despite arriving late for the restaurant's normal serving time for lunch (our GPS was less than helpful) we were treated to an outstanding meal and exceptionally professional and friendly service. My wife and I each ordered a tasting menu--she had the Vegetarian option, while... More
