My two Sons and I were in Bormio for two nights, cycling the Stelvio and Mortirola Passes(me on a Ducati!). We were staying at the Sotto Vento Hotel and Mirco the receptionist recommended Al filo for our evening meal. Situated in the centre of the town we were very impressed with the atmosphere and layout. The large room must have... More

The service is spotless and kind even to a non italian visitors, trying to speak italian. If the season alows, always ask for a RAW porcini salad. It is a... More

Staying at the Nuovi Bagni Spa a few miles away (excellent), we opted for a less formal dining option. Al Filo was both recommended by the hotel and also the taxi driver who took us to Bormio. Set below ground in almost a cave, this was an unusual setting. Service and staff knowledge was excellent and they both helped with... More

As our visit to Al Filo was rather improvised, we shoved up on a Saturday evening, without a reservation. Fortunately they were able to find us a table, although we were given a time limit of 2½ hour before we would have to leave. This was plenty of time for us, so no problem. All the dishes we tasted, all... More

Fantastic atmosphere, and very good food. I have known this place for a long time, when it still was called Il Taula' and I guess if the chef is the same because the food is excellent as ever.

This place is in the cellar of an old building that once kept animals in the winter. The atmosphere is old world with stone arches and high ceilings. They have a wonderful wine list to complement the food. I recommend making a reservation few day before you want to dine here.

Nice location and atmosphere, to be sure, but only average food at best. Kind of bland, we thought. Not especially imaginative we didn't think. Overall, we were a bit let down.
