We were recommended this place by our hotelier and we arrived early to ensure we got a table. We were not disappointed. This restaurant is vibrant and food is served quickly - it's definitely a fun place to eat but not a quiet fine-dining affair:-) We tried the farinata and it was very tasty, with a number of other smaller... We had two meals at Da Puppo in May 2014. Food was good and the value of it was great. Also the service was friendly.

We were spending the day with our Italian friends and their two boys, and had an excursion planned to see the medieval town of Albenga along with the exceptional caves or grottos a few miles away. They told us about farinata, the very simple but hard to cook perfectly dish of the area, and said that this restaurant was the... More

In summer there are long queues outside. This establishment is a local favourite and is considered value. I have been going for years. On a recent visit however I noticed that the quality of the food had crashed. Oily, smothred in bread crumbs, tasteless, not nicely presented. There is only one reason to go to Puppo and that is for... More

Be early because the line of guests around 8 pm is can not be discribed. Try the Fratinata. Fantastic.

You know you are probably in for a good meal when the locals are lined up (more milling around) fifteen minutes before opening time. At 1230, more or less, the door was opened, and a dozen and a half people, with anticipatory smiles on their faces, squeezed gently through the narrow door. The restaurant was soon filled. More people came,... More

If you have never had farinata, then this is the place for this wonderfully simple dish. Beware, this place is super popular with locals and Italians who read Trip Advisor and it is also small with tables crammed into what space they have. So either go early, or go late. Their typical plates of the area are the best and... More

In the center of Albenga, this small and simple restaurant has always excellent and fresh food. Farinata is a speciality of this restaurant, is an italian dish typical from Liguria, made with cheakpeas flour. Simple and good, you have to eat it whe really hot.... The only negative side of this place is that it's closed on Sunday evening and... More

The restaurant is small, with marble-topped tables and two wood-burning ovens. It is lively and very popular with the locals so it's best to come early or late, especially during the tourist season. The cuisine is firmly local and includes excellent farinata (a sort of pancake made with chickpea flour), fresh local fish, grills, pizzas and delicious desserts. We ate... More
