shortly... Staff unprofessional and rude, choice is very poor, food is not authentic. Instead of the Vitello tonato, that means veal with the sauce that made with tuna and capers, they serve the veal and the tuna salad that in French is used for the sandwiches. In menu was the pasta with the fresh tartuffo, they bring first the pasta... More

My local friend suggested to eat here but the place gets busy so we were there first thing during the lunch time. The place is owned by Piazza Duomo (3 stars Michelin) and serves a simple menu. We thought that the service was fine and efficient but it gets deteriorated towards the end of the meal as the place gets... More

La Piola is the "bistro" below and owned by the same folks who run the 3 star Michelin Piazza Duomo. The place was really crowded. Uncomfortably warm and stuffy. Above average prices for below average food. And service way below average. We will not go back.

We even had to take reservations in order to get a table at lunchtime in La Piola. Upon arrival we queued up for the registration at the bar. There, we were ignored by the staff and furthermore, other people were cutting the line and were placed on their tables instead. After a while, we were finally seated. The waitress just... More

We wait for 1hour for a simple pasta primo. Very bad experience. To avoid on Saturdays as the duomo place is crowded with the market's vans.

We arrived shortly after the restaurant was supposed to open for an early dinner. The door was locked. We should have taken that as a sign to go elsewhere. An annoyed staff member unlocked the door and told us to sit anywhere. The menu was very uncreative with the same 4 "Piedmont" specialties as everywhere else. Again, a sign to... More

Located in the main square of the old town, we liked both the location and the elegant design. We were looking for a restaurant that could offer traditional and simple dishes, in an area known for outstanding cuisine. As recommended by our landlord, we tasted famous "thisties"in fondue with truffles and the the 'tajarin", a special pasta found only here.... More

This was my first ever disappointing Italian restaurant experience - if we just want good food then we can get this from a delicatessen and cook it ourselves - I expect something more from a restaurant and especially one in Piedmont. I will be working in Alba for several weeks, I won't be coming back to La Piola ------- I... More

I went with my wife and two American friends, we had great food, great service. The raw meat was the best, and we also enjoyed the winter salad. Desserts were top notch.

Nice place, in a very traditional square. You can have local food of Piedmond, truffes and fine cuts included. Very good list of wines and reasonable prices. Mandatory for Alba. Good for lunch or dinner.
