Great bar with a lovely outside seating area overlooking the Hyatt Gardens and pool area. I would recommend the pizza which is one of the best in Muscat. A little pricey but worth is for a nice relaxing evening. Really good service and free nibbles when you arrive.

The John Barry is a luxurious bar - rather than a restaurant - and an elegant one at that. For once in Muscat, the service is up to the five star mark, the drinks are spot on and the finger food quite delectable. This is a deeply comodious place to recline away an evening with friends. The nautical theming, porthole... More

The bar tells a story of a ship that sank in the Arabian sea and was found by an expedition funded by the hotel visionary owner; sheikh Ahmed Farid The first time I have been to the bar was in 2001 and they were still selling some of the coins found in the ship , now a days you can... More

I decided to have my 30th Birthday party at the John Barry bar as I work in shipping so the nautical theme seemed very appropriate. The party had been pre arranged with the hotel's F&B manager Dirk and assistant F&B manager Dushyantha who were both really pleasant to deal with and very helpful. I really like the John Barry bar... Been to the John Barry bar a few times now. The finger food is pretty good and the drinks cold. Atmosphere is good, themed around the American ship - John Barry.

Great music from the saxophone and piano players and not to loud as we where there with friends and wanted to chat. The singer on a few occasions made me laugh with the words of the song. Food nothing special and definitely over priced. Very pleasant interior with plenty of charm. The staff were very helpful. Ladies please talk a... More

I've been to the place a few times but enjoyed every one. Usually there is a band playing good music to listen or dance to, but not being overbearing to those of us who wished to sit and chat. On a few occasions, held my breath having heard samba songs sung completely wrong int terms of words and pronunciation and... More

I definitely recommend John Barry for the drinks and live jazz, but the food is tasteless and overpriced. For example, a tenderloin is 11OMR ($27) and it doesn't come with any sides at all- no potato, no veggies, nothing. Those have to be ordered separately and cost 3OMR each. The fries and calamari which I ordered were soggy and bland,... More

Hours are 14:00-01:00, so couldn't try it for lunch. Need to return and see if the glass piano really performs.

This place doesn't attract the same kind of numbers of people as some other bars and pubs in Muscat but it is still my favorite. As I'm a seafarer I really love the nautical theme inside. My favorite feature is the Ship's portholes with water behind them. (They used to have fish behind apparently!) which give the place a Shipwreck... More
