Lovely lunch

We sat outside to enjoy the sunshine, so don't have much to say of the decor. The food was delicious. I had a wonderful seafood chowder, which could be the best thing I ate in all of Ireland. My husband had mussels, which he also enjoyed. The service was good, but the food was the standout.

I happened to pass through Carrigaholt en route to Loop Head and The Long Dock caught my eye. I was so glad I stopped to have lunch here. It is spotlessly clean and a lovely welcoming Irish pub. I was welcomed by a very friendly waitress who is typical of what real Irish hospitality is all about. I went in... More

What a find. The Lonely Planet Guide led us to this place. And the review in that guide book was exactly right This is a place that is everything you want in a local restaurant. We sat outside on a lovely, sunny day in Ireland. The proprietor was friendly and wanted to tell us everything we needed to know about... More

If you are anywhere near Carrigaholt make sure you pop into this pub for a drink or food - preferably both. The night we visited the street seemed pretty quiet. Consequently we were amazed at the hub of activity, open fire and welcoming atmosphere when we walked through the door. As other reviewers have noted, the seafood here is very... More

We didn't have a problem waiting for a table, as Restaurant was quite busy when we arrived. Our order was taken promptly, but the lady who took it was abrupt when one of our party asked for a slightly different option on one of the listed dishes. We have eaten many times in the Long Dock & always found the... More

Fish, fresh from the sea cooked to order! We had to wait a while for a table(always a good sign)but it was well worth the wait! Great atmosphere, very charming , sociable staff. This pub/restaurant is well worth a visit if you are in the locality.

Recommended by locals on the day. Had a late lunch. All food prepared in their kitchen - wow. Tasty, great menu, beautiful decor (even the smoking turf fire) & really friendly & helpful staff. I would travel to eat here. Lots of fresh seafood, the pastry on the tart was divine.

The cheerfulness of the staff is what I remember from the Long Dock. The food is good too - the fish and chips were well done and while the sticky toffee pudding didn't attain the "best ever" status as claimed in the menu, it wasn't something that you would send back either. The interior is a little cramped and the... More

If you want to try some locally caught fish you should definitely try the Long Dock in Carrigaholt about 8 miles west of Kilkee. Imelda the proprietor offers a great range of seafood and meat dishes and even sells sauces, jams etc to take home as gifts. Very good service - yummy!
