Good food but service and surroundings leave a lot to be desired

The set lunch at this restaurant is terrific value. The food is excellent, with interesting choices; indeed all our dishes were delicious. The accompanying wine (included in the price) was also good. However the service was a let down: charmless and verging on the surly. I wonder whether the... read more

We tried bot lunch and dinner here and were not disappointed. If you don't like animals around, the 2 dogs could be an issue, however don't let them spoil what is a truly lovely setting. Both food and wine were up to the standards we expect. The service was slow on the evening, however it was a lovely night.

I'll start with the good bits. Excellent Menu du Jour at €16. That's it, the rest was awful! The 'service' was delivered at snails pace by a stone faced waitress who did not smile once during the whole meal. The Patron, similarly unsmiling, lurked in the background apparently just hanging on for closing time. The two resident dogs roamed around... More

I have been coming to this restaurant for 12 or 13 years and it is still one of my favourites. The ambience in the tiny village square is one of its attractions, but the main attraction is the food. Although the menus seem not to be quite as varied and ambitious as they once were, it still offers one of... More

Our second visit to this restaurant in two years and it did not disappoint. We had the menu du jour and starter, main and dessert were all excellent. The food is beautifully presented and tastes AMAZING! Extremely good value for the quality of the food. Lovely ambiance, beautiful village. We would return to this restaurant again and again, it is... More

Christophe, patron, came out to meet my partner and me when we ordered a bottle of Moët et Chandon to celebrate our purchase of a French property. This, needless to say, went down very well and indeed did the tapas. This is the third visit and they gave all been extremely enjoyable experiences. The food is a delight. The staff... More

What a beautiful setting for the restaurant; a quiet and leafy square in this village circulade. There's an abundance of menus, we opted for the 26€ one. Our starters were magnificently presented and had such a wonderful intense flavour. My entrecôte was very agreeable and the fries in their snug basket a joy to the eye. Dessert was rhum baba... We have been going to this restaurant for over 10 years and this is the first time we have recieved poor service and mediocre food, unless normal service is renewed we will not go back in a hurry! Come on Lo Cagarols get your act together!

It would be difficult to imagine a more pleasant way to spend time with friends or family than a Thursday evening at Lo Cagarol. Seated on a lovely terrace in the shade of plane trees, our decision to arrive early to get a table was soon vindicated by every place being quickly taken by locals and visitors alike. Each Thursday... More
