Arguably one of the better burgers in the Bahamas. However, since you will never see a cow in the Bahamas that isn't saying a whole lot. They claim to be the inspiration to Jimmy Buffet's "Cheeseburger in Paradise". It may or may not be true, even Jimmy Buffet has different answers to that question. Of you are in the Bahamas... More

We really enjoyed our meal here. I think we may have arrived between the lunch and dinner times. When we came in, we asked if they were serving and the husband asked the wife to check. It started a nice, informal time. Ma Ruby was holding court in the bar area. Seated in the open area, we ordered cheeseburgers and... More

Their claim to have been the source of the "Cheeseburger in Paradise" song seems patently false(not that it matters much, but check Buffet's books etc. for the actual source). More fundamentally, their cheeseburger is more like a meatloaf on white toast than a cheeseburger, served with fries that would remind one of an American junior high school cafeteria. It is... More

We stumbled across Ma Ruby's restaurant and stopped in for food on a whim. What a treat! The food was very good and one item stood out as superb - the conch fritters. The prices were reasonable (especially compared to other restaurants on the island) relative to what we've come to expect with food at resorts on an island (i.e.... More

A family run restaurant that just welcomes you from the minute you walk in. Food was good but we only had the Cheeseburger in Paradise the two times we went cos we liked it that much.

I am a big Jimmy Buffet fan, so I had to have a cheeseburger here....it was good...but not outstanding! It was early, and we were the only guests....service was slow for being the only ones there! A big turnoff was the dirty ladies room!

They say Jimmy Buffet wrote his Cheeseburger in Paradise song after eating at Ma Ruby's. Make sure and stop for one on your visit to Harbour Island.

Not only do you get the famous cheeseburger in paradise named in Jimmy Buffets song but the famous Ma Ruby is there to tell you some island stories. Yes..the hamburger is really living up to it's famous song!

The conch fritters are the best ones that I have eaten, that is probably the only positive thing I have to say about this place. I also had a cheeseburger that was ok, not great. The atmosphere was not that great, there seemed to be dust or dirt on everything, which you can sometimes excuse for terrific food or service,... More

We went here for the famous cheeseburgers and they were really good. They are served on a very thick bread (like brioche) with a special sauce. We were there in the off season, so the place was empty. Service was friendly. The atmosphere and menu are very casual, not fancy. Reasonable prices. If you like cheeseburgers, you should try it.
