Very good food but at a price

Popped in a for a complimentary lunch with our spa day. The food was excellent and really not too heavy which was nice. The venue and service were also top class. My one reservation was the price we paid for our ice cream deserts (only got two courses complimentary), was a lot of money for three... read more

A little pricey, but very nice food, well cooked and presented. We ate their the first night of our stay and decided to go back for the second, it was so nice.

Having eaten at The Clubhouse on a number of occasions, and having had afternoon tea at Rockliffe previously, my expectations for The Brasserie were high. Arriving as part of a large party, initially myself and my companion were not greeted upon entry, and no one asked to take our jackets. We were instructed to select two courses from a limited... Great menu, food lived up to expectations, by and large an efficent team delivering what was expected, simperingly difficult to make a choice from a fabulous menu.

What a disappointment. A lovely hotel it may be but this did not hit the spot at all. Champagne not chilled (unacceptable when paying London prices: £96), water not chilled, scallops and belly pork overcooked and service functional at best. The sight of Spa guests in dressing gowns and slippers with all the potential wardrobe malfunctions of a Carry On... More

My wife and I went for a spa package. The spa is great, looks new and well kept. The staff at the spa were very helpful and welcoming. The package also included a two course meal at their restaurant called the Brasserie. This is where it became disappointing. The food was good. My starter (treacle cured salmon) was beautiful, and... For such a wonderful hotel, I found the food served here quite ordinary, where as it should be really blowing you away. Service was good and efficient, and atmosphere was good, just a shame the food isn't wow.
