Thank you so much for a memorable evening! We had the most stunning meal, we selected a menu for our guests with the assistance from Marcus. We were given a private dining room as we were celebrating a Special Birthday. On arrival we had champagne reception and delicious canapes followed by the most Fabulous Meal, everyone really enjoyed the evening... More

Not so far from Darlington, Rockliffe Hall and the Croft Racing Circuit, this quality dining pub is situated in the middle of Hurworth - a charming village on the banks of the River Tees, that really is well worth a wander through if you're in the area. Part traditional pub (which must have had a refurb at some point in... More

When thinking about how best to celebrate my 45th birthday and having read reviews of the Bay Horse, it seemed the perfect destination. Easy to find down a couple of country roads outside Darlington, we arrived a little in advance of our 1pm reservation and shown directly to our table. The menu is usual Sunday lunch fayre but executed incredibly... More

We were turned away at the door, admittedly we arrived and didn't book, but it was a quiet Monday at 6.00pm and the restaurant was clearly practically empty. The waitress was rude to the point of being aggressive, and despite telling us there WERE two tables available, she refused to push them together and allow us to sit down. We... More

We decided to come here for a meal rather than have dinner at Rockcliffe Hall where we were staying. It was a 15 minute walk through a country lane, which was really good. We had dined at Rockcliffe on a previous visit and had a meal, which was cold and unappealing. The table at the Bay Horse was a bay... More

The local hotel (rockcliffe hall) restaurant was closed. So we were recommended to eat here. It was a great find. Innovative menus and a good affordable wine list

Visited with family and 3 out of the four didn't feel too well the day after. One example was the duck leg confit was cold and the duck breast chewy! Not what we expected from high end gastropub. Would not recommend.

Our party of friends dined here tonight and being in the trade ourselves couldn't fault anything. The food was exemplary, the service was fine/casual, and the ambiance was relaxing and warm. This establishment deserves a star...as long as it doesn't become too expensive once it achieves one...LOL

We were lucky to be asked when visiting fiends from Melsonby to join them for dinner on Sunday 22/2/15 at the Bay Horse . Well to be busy on a Sunday evening is something special in its self and the reason is very simple . The food , wine and the service here are simply second to none and well... More
