The Bay Horse retains an emphasis on the finer details of a real old English pub, hand pulled local ales in dimple glasses and side dishes served in copper pans. The menu is made up of classic British cooking with a twist & has a strong emphasis on flavours & presentation. The premise has achieved a Michelin Bib Gourmand for the last four years.

No Better Place......

Our party of friends dined here tonight and being in the trade ourselves couldn't fault anything. The food was exemplary, the service was fine/casual, and the ambiance was relaxing and warm. This establishment deserves a star...as long as it doesn't become too expensive once it achieves one...LOL

We were lucky to be asked when visiting fiends from Melsonby to join them for dinner on Sunday 22/2/15 at the Bay Horse . Well to be busy on a Sunday evening is something special in its self and the reason is very simple . The food , wine and the service here are simply second to none and well... More

My wife and I visited during a spa weekend to rockliffe. What an inspired choice, the atmosphere was perfect and the food was perfect. Rabbit done a few ways with quirks like suet pudding amazing, definitely up there with best meal ever and I mean ever. The service was very friendly, knowledgeable, efficient and professional. If it doesn't have a... More

We booked at short notice for lunch, and weren't dissapointed. The atmosphere and the staff were fantastic, they couldn't do enough to help. the food was outstanding with lots of 'different things' on the menu. Very enjoyable, would definately recommend.

Have dined here many times over the past few years but never left a review. We visit for special occasions such as birthdays for evening meals which are on the pricey side but always presented beautifully and are tasty. We also occasionally visit for Sunday lunch which is great value, good quality and just as tasty. Service is, on the... More

I made a dinner reservation at The Bay Horse on behalf of my place of work as our Chairman was retiring. We have one of the private rooms upstairs. Can I just say from the start of my inquiry to the actual dinner itself the staff have been extremely helpful. The next day back at work the diners were extremely... More

Booked private dinning for my wifes birthday. The whole experience was great. they allowed us to decorate room with balloons banners and bring our own cake. The canapes were a great addition to an excellent night. Thanks again.

We went here earlier this week and have to say that we both enjoyed our meals. The starters were maybe a bit fancy, but tasty with it. The stone baked bass was lovely, and my OH enjoyed his rabbit. A bit disappointing that all the veg side dishes had to be paid for as an extra cost - some veg... More

This is a great place to eat. I went with my wife and the service was fantastic. The food is well cooked and presented very well. I think they try different things to see what works best , this keeps the menu from getting stale.Make sure you book, busy at the week end. I asked if the taster dessert was... More
