The Bay Horse retains an emphasis on the finer details of a real old English pub, hand pulled local ales in dimple glasses and side dishes served in copper pans. The menu is made up of classic British cooking with a twist & has a strong emphasis on flavours & presentation. The premise has achieved a Michelin Bib Gourmand for the last four years.

Lunch

Decided to have a ride out on a bank hol Monday and thought we would try somewhere we had never been. The Bay Horse was good but not very good for us . Every thing was fine no faults , can't quite put my finger on why but I don't think we will return.

Lovely Sunday lunch very tasty all home Cooked and reasonably priced. Also offer a few other dishes on a Sunday rather than just the traditional roast, which although we never ate looked lovely.

We visited here with my parents and had a fantastic meal. Gourmet delights at a very reasonable price. Service is top notch and the menu is varied and exciting. The carrot and goats cheese starter is unusual and fun to eat. My husband had the rabbit and thoroughly enjoyed it. The fish dishes are great too. The little extras, like... More

I visited this restaurant in May 2015. We had been booked a table through a local gentleman to the area who we were seeing on business. It did not disappoint! The food was excellent with a fantastic choice of meat / fish dishes. Everything including the bread is made by the chef and his team. Service was excellent

My Wife and I travelled from Plymouth to collect her parents in Lancashire to then carry on the following day to Seahouses for a well earned break. All four of us really love fine food so I carried out extensive research to find a perfect stop off for lunch. We set off to the well reviewed Bay Horse with great... More

We visited on a Saturday lunchtime, seated in the bar area and were very happy indeed. Great starters - black pudding with peas and all manner of purees. Smoked haddock with smoked haddock fish cake was also superb. The rabbit, with foie, fantastic. The filet steak cooked beautifully accompanied by a delicious pepper sauce. The chips the only slight disappointment.... More
