This is a fairy tale witch is still continuing and witch can be lived in the almost unreal atmosphere that encircles"L'Hostaria del Ponte", the last stop for those who want to abandon the real worl before surroinding themselves in the evanescent landscape of the ravines that beisege the tufaceus hill where the town of Civita di Bagnoregio stands.
"L'Hostaria del Ponte" welcomes its guests in the small and eegant climatised dining-rooms, intimates areas on three floors of an ancient tufo's house which has been elegantly restored and where attention has been paid to detail. The restaurant offers a simple cuisine which allows you to discover the traditional tastes of the Viterbo's area: piciarelli, wild boar, truffles and porcini mushrooms which are presented in a rich and colourful sequences of typical dishes.
Fragrances from long ago and genuine flavours that are exalted by the prestigius quality of the wines from the local cellars such as the famous Est!Est!!Est!!! Of Montefiascone or Orvieto classico.
From the splendid terrace of the Hostaria del Ponte there is a view accross the valley which includes the towns of Lubriano and Civitella d'Agliano in a chain of rocky crests that are eroded and fluctuate like lunar cracks with the cliff of Civita dominating them.
In the Mercatello district of Bagnoregio there are magic moments to be had in the Hostaria del Ponte: Flavours and smells from long ago, intense aromas from the sweet and luxurius nature, sights which are almost spectral......., Magical....., In the twilight, a narrow 300 metre bridge suspended over the Calanchi valley...And losing oneself in the fairy tale of Civita "La citta che muore", an architectonic jewel with its houses erected in the eptiness, sunny with the golden tufo stone, dream-like like an island emerging out of the clouds.
