Good, simple food at reasonable prices. Terrace to sit outside and enjoy the incredible view of Civita di Bagnoregio

Don't be put off by this restaurant's terrible decoration. The upstairs roof terrace, covered in plastic, couldn't have looked more like a tourist hotspot. Of course, the view is gorgeous. Bagnoregio is exquisite and the restaurant's in perfect location. The food - incredible. Though the bread was stale and dry, the gorgonzola/pear/radish pasta (faggottini) was out of this world. The amazing view is one thing, but the food and wine here is also 5*. I had the gnocchi with porcini mushrooms and truffles, and it's probably the best gnocchi I've ever had. Great service too. Call ahead and ask for a table with a good view of Civitta, you won't be disappointed. They also have English speaking staff.

A visit to Civita would not be complete without a meal here. Everything is home made and fresh! The pasta dish with the cheese and pears was fantastic. One of the best meals that I had in Italy. If ever back in Italy I will make sure that I get there again.

We had a wonderful lunch time with full menu course, friendly but very professional and efficient in service.

The view from this restaurant to Civita di Bagnoregio is absolutely stunning. There is nowhere like this anywhere else in the world. We had mushroom risotto which was very tasty. Friendly service and reasonably priced. Recommended.

Very few American tourists make it to Civita, the ruins of a medieval hill town on the outskirts of Bagnoregio, Italy (30 minutes south of Orvieto). That's a shame, because it's beautifully sited and a beautiful sight. It's reached by walking fifteen minutes across a suspension bridge (first down, then steeply up). Hostaria del Ponte sits on the Bagnoregio side... More

A taxi driver in Rome recommended this place to us; I am glad we we took advantage, we had absolutely no regrets. We decided to stop here to fortify ourselves before making the trek over the footbridge to Civita. If you go here you must sit out on the terrace which looks directly out on the ancient, tiny walled town... More

if you are in Umbria and wish to see a beautiful medieval town on a causeway not accessible to cars over a burgeoning valley then visit Bagnoreggio. Better still, combine it with lunch or dinner at HDP. A family run restaurant where NOTHING on the menu can disappoint. We went twice and each time was an utter delight with frech... More
