A lovely welcoming pub that was 2 doors down from where we were staying. Very dog friendly with plenty of dog biscuits to hand, our dog would try to walk through the door when ever we headed out somewhere. Not a massive menu but all tastes catered for. There is only one vegetarian option listed for both starter and main... More

Sitting in bed at The Cricket listening to the waves breaking on the shore. The view from the window is of just the sea giving the impression of being on a ship. Rooms are simple and relaxing but fitted out with quality bedding, pillows etc. The pub and restaurant also has that lovely New England feel but has been so... More

The only thing wrong with our visit was that we arrived and left in the dark. I have been told the beach and the views are wonderful!! We were looked after so well on a very quiet night with recommendations as to what to eat and drink. John Dory which melted in the mouth and the almost world famous seafood... More

We recently returned to the Cricket Inn after a twenty five year absence and found things had changed a great deal. It is now a spacious pub / restaurant serving excellent food and good beer and wine. We were very pleased that our dog was allowed in whilst we had our meal. Starter of squid was delicious whilst husband's crab... More

Our first visit to the Cricket Inn was over 25 years ago, at which time it was a small typical Devon pub. It had a certain charm but was destined to close without some serious input into the place. Someone had the nerve to purchase adjoining properties and extend the ground floor area and offer boarding accommodation in the extra... More

Found 'The Cricket Inn' by accident whilst walking in the area. Firstly, the village of Beesands is great, right on the edge of the beach after a trip through narrow Devon roads. The Inn itself is both old and modern on the outside but a nice modern décor inside. The menu was just the right mix of fish, meats and... More

Having walked 6 hours from Salcombe we arrived foot weary as night fell. We succumbed to drinks and then to the menu. I had the sea bream stuffed with feta and spinach on a bed of tomato and olive. Nice presentation, strong flavours. Others in the party enjoyed the "almost world famous" seafood pancakes which were voted excellent, as was... More

Thanks for your review I agree with you not enough staff last week we advertised for staff now you would think that in the autumn in this area people would be looking for a job but no, OTE 18k pulling pints NOT ONE PHONE CALL. I am sure there are some unemployed but obviously not around here thanks again for... More

We stayed here in late September and throughly enjoyed it, the location is great being right on the beach at Beesands and about 4 metres from the front door of the pub you are able to walk down to the sea, which is great at night when the lighthouse on Start Point shines over the bay. The room we had... More

Being next to the sea one expects local fresh fish, but how often do you get it? At the Cricket Inn you do and quite a range too. The location is peaceful and picturesque with wonderful views of the bay. The pub was busy which is a good sign and apart from perhaps Fridays and Saturdays, booking is not necessary,... More
