Traditional Italian food, superbly created. A feast for the taste buds. Prepared and served by the couple who own the restaurant, you can rely on their recommendations for food and wine. It is on the main road. Worth climbing up to the nearby village, which...is made up of steep alleys. However, no other restaurants or shops there.More

The food in this restaurant is to live for. We had dinner here with friends and we hope to return. The quality of the food, the friendly staff and overall experience was as good or better than many of the High profile restaurants in the...more popular local areas.More

This restaurant is fine for pasta. In fact, it is delicious! Sunday lunch is mobile - so do reserved a table beforehand. However don't bother with the Agnello Panate - which my wife and I both ordered today at noon. What we received was a...plate full of grease - fried and breaded ......they forgot to add the angello!!More

Was visiting the Dolceacqua wine region, and had a lunch here with two different winegrowers - their choice, not mine, as I had never been here before. That said, the food is here is reason enough to return to the area. Everything is homemade, and...it's clear that the ingredients are not only fresh, they're the incredibly good. Fair prices (read: low), great service and desserts that are out of this world. Highly recommended, don't miss this place!More

We found out about this place from the chef at Mirazur in Menton who writes the ravioli here is "to die for". Four of us made the trip, taking the train from Menton to Ventimiglia, doing the market in Ventimiglia, and then taking a taxi...to San Biagio della Cima. It was a wonderful way to spend the day and the food and service at La Vecchia Ostaia were divine. The pasta is indeed spectacular but the real stars are the family--so warm and friendly and fun. A magical experience.More

I don't know we're to start. I have an big respect for people like this family. The restaurant is manage by Angela la mamma as a chef, Dominique the daughter in kitchen with la mamma and I charge of dessert and the great sebastiano making...sure that you have a great service and amazing wine. A typical Italian family business with a personal touch. Let's talk about this raviolis with sage or the spaghetti verde al ragu . This calabresse woman make the best hand made pasta in the world. The experience is great and worth the ride. The most beautiful part is when this lady after a full 50 pax service, can manage to go outside on the room and greet every single guest and in two second sebastiano put la tarantella and the volume goes up for la mamma start to dance with almost every guest. The energy the food the ambience make me feel like nothing else exist more than la voglia de vivere contenti. Thanks to all for amazing memories.More

We went to the winery Ka'manchiné first for wine degustation and I had looked online for a restaurant not too fare away; La Vecchia Ostaia was a perfect choice; No chi chi, great pasta and very good service, good wine too !

Firstly, ignore any negative reviews. They do not count. We have been to this restaurant 8 times over 6 years (from Australia every 2 years). It is a fantastic family run restaurant. Mumma and daughter in the kitchen and son front of house. We have...never been disappointed. Everything if fresh and hand made. The ravoli is sensational. Excellent wine selection and recommendations. Eat slowly and trust the house. Tip - When you get to the restaurant there is parking to the right.More

A good chef sent us here. Food is fresh made with love. Pasta hyper fresh however the sauces were no great creations and the drab typical homey little Italian restaurant decor is a bit tiring. Can't complain but not worth rerun despite mama's after service...victory lap. Must mention: very friendly people here and that alone is important. Lamb chop impagnato interesting.More

if you are in this area is good restaurant to eat, but is no worth to go there just for this restaurant. Plates are "home" style , you ll find nothing special there if you eat every day italian dishes. And if you traveled already...all Italy , comparing with others places this will be poor.More

You are a long way from the glitter of the Riviera by the time you find La Vecchia Ostaia. But, if getting there is half the fun, enjoying the superb country cooking by momma completes the circle. Pastas are hand made, salads and other entrees...are delicious. I had the specialty of the house, the braised rabbit. It was cooked to perfection. After dinner, the fun began. Be prepared to get a real bum bounce if you dare to dance with momma. All in all, a memorable dinner and experience.More

Think of a place somebody that has been "Chef of the Year" in France goes to eat pasta, escaping from duty on his starred Michelin restaurant. That's how I got to La Vecchia Ostaia. The father is by the door, the Mamma is in the...kitchen and the son runs de salon. The menu barely comes, all you have to do is listen to what the son suggets you. We were a group of four, had pulpo for entree, followed by four pastas and two desserts. After the work is done, Mamma Angela comes to the salon to talk to the costumers, sing, and even dance with one of my friends! It really feels like home.More
