We are now in our 21st year at the Blacksmiths, we are a family owned, family run, traditional, independent freehouse country pub. We like to think that service, value for money and a friendly welcome go hand in hand. We are not part of some faceless corporation - we are just a hard working family who wants to give you the best food and dining experience that we possibly can. We are not robots - we are only human and on rare occasion make mistakes, tell us and we'll put it right - thats our commitment to you - our valued customers, family and friends.

Still The Best Steak In The Area

It's been some time now since I was last at the Blacksmiths. However nothing has changed, the service is second to none, the food a gastronomic delight. The sure sign of the reputation of the establishment is that the staff never seem to change and know you by name, they are courteous and... read more

Came here for our tea after a nice day out. When meal came we could hardly see it with the bad lighting and our steaks were poor quality with so much fat and gristle I ended up taking home more for the dog than I had to eat, the last thing we expected for a meal that was almost £50... More

Visited tonight with my partner after many recommendations and were not disappointed! We shared Mussels to start which were amazing. For mains my partner had the Lamb Shoulder which was cooked and presented beautifully! As was my steak which I had cooked in front of us at our table on a hot stone - AMAZING! I believe it was Sarah... More

A few months back I did review Blacksmiths as the food and service is just streets ahead of the many other establishments. I described the meal we had as sensational. I am reporting back because it is better than that! Better than sensational! The food is simply top class. Best Lasagne in the North by a country mile and every... More

A nice clean pub with tasty food spoilt only by the price of the meals. We ordered chicken breast with a choice of sauce from the menu only to find when served that it was basically chicken and chips with a sauce.....and nothing else.....for £15! We then had to order a pot of veg at an additional cost of £3... More

We visited for sunday lunch 2nd Aug,at the pre-booked time, and shown to our table.Selected from a extensive menu the food was both quality & quantity served efficiently and courtesy. The large outside play area is a bonus for families in the summer,I rate everything 1st class.

Spot on! Was quite expensive with main dishes averaging around £15 however if you're looking for something quite special or a treat, it's worth every penny because the food is delicious and high quality. My dad and brother got the stone steak, where the chef came and cooked the steak to their liking on a very hot stone at the... More

As per the last visit, great service, good food and good portions. Our last visit, we pre-booked and pre-ordered for 18. This visit we just rang and booked, placed our orders when we sat down (for 16). In what seemed like no time at all we were being served, the whole meal went perfectly, staff and service great, and of... More

We visited the Blacksmiths Arms on Saturday 4th July. We arrived slightly before the time which our table was booked for so we got a drink from the bar and enjoyed the sunshine in the garden area. Once we were seated for our meal we ordered moules as a starter to share which we're very tasty. We each then ordered... More
