The dining room is set in a heated, plant-filled Victorian greenhouse with an earth floor, colourful artworks and mismatched vintage furniture. Loved by A-listers and hipsters alike, this is an idyllic place for lazy weekend lunches, discreet mid-week meals and super chic events. The short menu changes weekly - five starters, five main course dishes, simple desserts and one cheese - and the wine list includes some brilliant French and Italian labels. A true original, the Petersham Nurseries Caf is a must for all culinary thrill-seekers.

We went to Petersham Nurseries restaurant after having wandered around the garden centre and having eaten cake in the cafe a few times before. On the day of our lunch, the weather was quite hot and humid, and upon arrival we asked whether we could sit in the beautiful garden. However, we were told that the weather forecast had predicted... This restaurant is situated in an outstandingly beautiful location, completely as I had expected. Arrive early to enjoy the stunning flowers and plants. My plaice was £27.50 and came with a hair from the kitchen. The occasion is always spoiled to a certain extent when this unfortunate hygiene lapse occurs, and I would expect a small gesture on the bill.... More

Four of us marked a significant birthday with lunch at Petersham Nurseries. It's a charming place that plays to all the senses; the ambience is simply unique. Two of us had been here previously; that they were keen to return helped allay some of the fears aroused by enough negative reviews to instill doubt. There are two sides to every... More

We dined here with friends on a Saturday night and whilst the evening ambience of the greenhouse lit by fairy lights was most alluring, the food and service was somewhat lacklustre. Aperitifs and appetizers were thrust upon us before all guests had arrived but the remainder of the service was slow and generally absent. No further wine or drinks were... More

I visited Tea room twice on Wednesday and Friday in last week of July with a couple of friends from New York. The place is very charming , my friends loved it and really admired the whole idea of having restaurant and cafe inside the conservatory. That was the only ''plus'' of our visit. Food was so overpriced, looking old and... More

Five stars. Phenomenal food. Magical location. Style and class in spades. But if you're on a budget the bill will probably spoil it for you. Be prepared. And as long as you are prepared, enjoy it - thoroughly.

Have just returned from a day out with my son to Petersham Nurseries in Church Lane off Petersham Road, Richmond. I love going to Garden Centres and/or Nurseries and my daughter recommended this one, even though I live in Hertfordshire and this is miles away. But I was not disappointed. We were in a small car thankfully because when you... More

We visited (again) for my mothers birthday. It was very hot and all the tables had been moved outside which was lovely, the tables were beautifully decorated and we sat right by the fountain. The service was 'nice' but lacked the professionalism which has characterized previous visits eg we had to remind staff about requests for water and for bread.... More

You queue with a tray for the cafe, unlike the restaurant alongside. Then sit either inside conservatory or outside. All very casual. Good salads and quiches etc. NZ Dicksonia ferns in the humid atmosphere alongside shabby chic chairs and tables. Outside glorious sweetpeas, dahlias and agapanthus! Beautiful!

I've decided to post this review as I've been burnt too many times by Petersham nurseries. This is probably the best forum for it. I don't usually complain and like to give a place a couple of chances to redeem itself, in this case it hasn't and we have spent a lot of money with them. We booked it for... More
