Great location but expensive

I took my girlfriend for lunch at the restaurant which is only open at lunchtimes and is called the cafe. There is also a self serve part of the nursery which is less formal and cheaper called the tearoom. We went on a recommendation of a family member and were warned that parking was an issue so... read more

The day was absolutely pouring with rain so if the weather forecast is not good, avoid this place - everyone will want to park as close to the entrance as possible in order to avoid the puddles of mud along the dirt road. The precarious roof had several leaks so a few of the tables were not available as a... More

Came with a NZ girlfriend for lunch. Had to walk miles to get to the Nurseries and on arrival, plod through huge puddles and potholes, in the pouring rain. But blissed out looking at the various dahlias and cottage flower arrangements. Loved the bicycle and cart flower arrangement at the front door. Took loads of photos for floral arrangements ideas... Stopped several times for tea, good place for business and to end an afternoon. Service was very good. Good choice to teas and scons.

We went to the cafe, not restaurant. Salads ordered were quite nice, if not pricey. The best thing about this place is how atmospheric it is. On a sunny day it can get quite crowded, so come early. Nice photo opportunities!

Visited yesterday on what was probably one of the hottest days of the year for a very special birthday treat. Food was good but overpriced and the wine exorbitant with the house white at £24 a bottle. Pity they didn't offer a full range of prices. VERY disappointed to be charged for warm tap water too. The worst was our... More

A big NO NO.Before you reach the nurseries you have at least 300 yards of yellow mud littered with potholes which would do justice to a battlefield of WW1 ! The same yellow mud was throughout the nuseries and more to the point the restaurant area. The food was pretty average nothing to hang ones hat on.Over priced living on past... More

Another great lunch, in twinkly pretty garden loveliness. Fab service, imaginative dishes, gorgeous setting . I love it.

Over the past 6 months I've eaten at the restaurant, tea cafe and a private dinner, as well as a cookery class - all have been very good. There was a time (2 yrs ago) when I couldn't believe the missed opportunity given the setting and potential, they just seemed to be missing it when it came to the food... More

I was really looking forward to lunch at this unusual venue, but bitterly disappointed. Food very overpriced, small portions and wine list exorbitant. Poor children's menu (one of their options was radishes!) We had a table outside and left with shoes covered in mud from last night's rain, they definitely need a solution to this problem. Sadly cannot recommend if... More
