Our restaurant is simple in design, with stunning views out over the Banchory countryside. The service efficient and discreet allows diners to focus on the food being served. Our seasonal menus are based around superb local ingredients, cooked to perfection. Our menus are balanced to allow diners to enjoy and experience all three, or four, courses - that is the way we feel a true dining experience should be.Our chef/director has over thirty years experience and has worked in a range of five star hotels and top michelin starred restaurants throughout the world. He now brings this flair and passion to the North East, leading a small team of enthusiastic chefs who make everything on site - from the bread you start with to the petit fours to complete the meal.

Had been looking forward to coming here as had heard good reports about the quality. Went for a Friday evening meal with my husband as a treat. How do it sum it up? Lazy cookery which was perfectly achievable in your own home at a fraction of the price. First warning sign was the the food arrived within 5 minutes... More

Went to the cowshed for Sunday Lunch. The food was delicious and was the best roast beef we could remember having. Good roast potatoes and greens with a decent Yorkshire as well. I had a nice (but slightly small) seafood starter which tasted really good and a creamy creme brulee for dessert. A few other people have mentioned drinks menus... More

Prior to eating my meal, I was fairly certain that I would be giving this place 3 stars - however the food is seriously amazing. My mum, dad, brother and I came here for Sunday lunch. My mum and dad had some leaflet from somewhere that was for money off if you came Wednesday to Friday, but I was only... More

After reading the reviews on here before visiting the Cow Shed, I have to agree with many of the points previously made. It is disappointing to see that the restaurant is not taking any of these points on board. We visited the Cow Shed with a special offer voucher. I asked the waitress twice if there were any limitations with... More

This was our first visit to the Cowshed and I must say I'm surprised by the negative reviews I've subsequently seen. We had a window seat with a great view, the young staff were pleasant and efficient, the food excellent. The interior is modern and makes the most of the setting - described by another contributor on this site as... More

Do not be put off by the negativity of some of the reviews on this site. This is a very good restaurant. It is set in delightful countryside and the restaurant is decorated smartly inside creating a warm ambience. The food is creatively prepared and presented and the service is friendly and professional. The wine list is not long but... More

Booked here for my birthday meal - well when I say booked my husband called and made a reservation only for us to turn up and not be in the diary! No apology was given, no smiles of welcome either, but they had a chat and told us "we can put you on Table 1". The welcome was so poor... More

This was our first visit to the Cowshed and we were most impressed by the decor and ambience and friendly service. We were shown to a table for two - all the window tables were already taken but we still had a good view over beautiful countryside. The china and cutlery were both of a high standard and the food... We regularly had lunch at the Cow Shed when it first opened and it was 1st class. We were disappointed when they stopped doing lunch so I was excited last week when I heard they were opening for lunch again The menu was not very interesting the food mediocre. The staff were pleasant. The view was still wonderful. We will... More

Decided to stop for dinner at the Cow Shed after work. I was the first to arrive after they opened at 18:00. Firstly. The location is fantastic. Get a table by the window so that you can sit and soak in the Aberdeenshire countryside. The wind blowing, making waves. The fields look almost like the ocean. The clouds drift by... More
