A gem of a restaurant, attached to the excellent Woodend Barn music and theatre venue. We keep going back and are never disappointed with the quirky and delicious dishes, always made with the best of Aberdeenshire's local produce. Great for a meal or for a snack and a cup of tea or coffee. As if that wasn't enough, the owner... More

I have eaten here several times with family. Love the fact that this is attached to the Woodend Barn and so is accessible to events there including live music, theatre, comedy, etc. Restaurant specializes in home baking and cooking, as well as organic and healthy foods. Also has large selection of beer and wines.Patrons are encouraged to linger and books and free... Drive-by lunch for two on a busy Sunday afternoon. The second visit this year. We thoroughly enjoyed an excellent meaty casserole/mixed vegetables main and soup/nibbles combo's. The accompanying basket of mixed homemade breads ensured that all plates and bowls were thoroughly cleaned! The chocolate cake desert was a tad dry - reflecting perhaps a dairy-free recipe? However, a good coffee... More

Visited here last weekend and was feeling hopeful upon reading the menu as the place appeared to be trying very hard to be 'fancy/hip' with their choice of produce and cuisine. However, asides from the 40 min wait for a bowl of soup (which tasted fine, but was £1.25 a bowl overpriced), followed by another 25 mins after that for... More

My partner and I love coming here for a weekend lunch. Food here is of great quality and staff are very friendly. the views and layout of the place is spectacular. Service can be slow at times but it can be forgiven given the laid back atmosphere of the place. Great place to bring a book and sit with a... More

Good and imaginative food with mainly locally sourced ingredients served in a bright, modern, relaxed environment, with wonderful views from panoramic windows. The young staff are helpful, if a little giddy at times. This is a successful attempt to provide something a little out of the ordinary in this part of the country. Attached to a lively local arts centre,... More

Arrived at 11.45 am. Ignored by three waiting staff. Tables seemed to all be reserved. Sat at a tiny table, having first had to wipe crumbs from stained chairs. Ignored. Waitress finally appeared. Asked for menu- no menus ready. Ordered two drinks- 10 minute gap between getting them. Had to put teapot and jug on floor and milk on a... More

Been a few times now during the day and what a lovely place. I had the costal board this visit, and the flavours were delicious. The bread brought to the table is always tasty, though I could happily eat the whole bowl to myself! I've had the soup previously and it was just as good. Cakes look and taste amazing,... More
