First time we've visited this bistro and will definitely return. The fish platter to share was full of amazing and original flavours. Our only disappointment was the poor service. We felt like we were invisible. It was moderately busy at lunchtime and there seemed to be enough staff but they simply were not attentive enough.

We went for a family lunch here last week and even managed to take our dog with us (we sat outside). The staff were very attentive and our drinks order arrived within a couple of minutes. I had the chicken salad, which was nice but nothing really special. However, I was very impressed at the gluten-free cakes on offer. That... More

I live in Aberdeen and frequently make the trip out to Banchory to Buchanan's Bistro either to meet friends or just to nip out along Deeside and stop off for some coffee. Great place to go for coffee and cake or lunch. I have yet to try it in the evening - but I am sure that is great too.... More

We were up in Aberdeenshire visiting family and had a run of very awful meals. As a vegetarian I find it hard to find food that is both tasty and vegetarian. Normally you get very unimaginative Lasagne or quiche and for someone who hates eggs it is no good. We came here on a scorching day and we were all... More

A warm welcome, great decor and gorgeous views. Food quirky but lovely. Would be nice to see some specials and as we are regulars it would be good to see the menu change more often.

We've been to Buchanans Bistro a number of times and until this last time always found the food good. The menu is quite quirky - bits of this and that all jumbled together. The waiter tells you that the specials aren't known till the last minute - though they are already cooked. This last meal for us was tolerable except... More

Had lunch here yesterday, and it was just lovely. The place, and the menu, is somewhat quirky, but the food, drink and service were all first class. For an unusual but enjoyable lunch, it is to be highly commended. The spinach and parmrsan quiche was simply divine!

Unique: individual Anyone expecting a bog standard middle-of-the -road style restaurant is going to be disappointed. The cooking is inventive and refreshingly different. Banchory is fortunate to have it !

On arrival the menu did not look appealing, but ordered potato cakes and it came with a lovely salad. I then had a raspberry short cake crumble and it was to die for. So yes we enjoyed.

Not up to it's usual standard on this occasion - a bit disappointing.. It was Mother's Day and no specials on the menu on that day. Food was below average and service was lacklustre.
