excellent place, staff and food

Found this gem of a pub by accident. So glad we did. Lovely traditional cornish pub with an open roaring fire. Dog friendly in the bar area. Very friendly and helpful staff. Food was amazing, I'd recommend the seafood gratin served in a shell. Will come back again

We hadn't eaten here for almost a year but are so glad we went back recently! It was a cold night but there was a lovely fire roaring away-just what was needed! The menu offered a good choice of very reasonably-priced options, comparing very well with some of the local alternatives. Our meals were all attractively presented, excellent quality and... More

One of our favourite places after a day on the beach. Normally the kids have fallen asleep in the back of the car so we can sit in the lovely garden with one eye on the car but still able to soak up the lovely calm atmosphere of this place

We found this little village by accident one day and came back because we liked the look of it. We came back at night, in the middle of winter, and the whole drive up to the restaurant was very spooky, as was the building itself, but it all adds to the charming atmosphere! It's a lovely old building, full of... More

we had one of the best Sunday lunches that I think i have ever had. Every time we have been here, we have had the same experience. We will be back and would urge you to visit this little gem. Be warned, you will need to book ahead.

Ancient old building, log fire to match, traditional old English pub - what's not to like? The warm and friendly pub atmosphere is matched by the landord's obvious pleasure in serving you. Then there is the food, and again matches everything about the place. We had lunch there on a Monday in January and all the tables in the main... More

2 of us visited on the 18 January we tried to book but we're told to take our chance and turn up on the off chance at about 1.15 We arrived and luckily a table was vacant. We both had mushroom soup as a starter and roast beef as a main. The soup was piping hot and very tasty. The... More

Great pub...great food...great staff....it tends to get "found" in the summer by the "rockites" and they can be a pain... But that aside the food is always good the service charming and today especially the fire lovely.

I love this place, not only does it have real log fires, great beer and fantastic food, but on a Friday they also have live music. An experience not to be missed. This is gourmet food at reasonable prices with a real country pub atmosphere. Staff friendly and helpful.
