Food was excellent, lovely views, cosy inside and dog's welcome. Initially seeing this place from outside I wasn't sure what to expect, however the staff and local's that were in the pub were very friendly and the food was fresh and tasty and certainly filling.

We were on our way to a hotel in the lakes but stopped off at Brampton and I found this by chance on the internet. It had great reviews so thought we would call in. It was in the middle of no where and it was like the yellow brick road to find. It's was a very welcoming pub and... More

This place is a bit off the beaten track, however it is WELL worth a visit if you are in the area. We struggled all holiday to find somewhere nice to eat in the area before coming here. Julie is absolutely amazing in the kitchen. She does a proper slice of pie (one with pastry top, bottom and side) that... More

We decided to visit The Kirkstyle Inn whilst staying locally in Alston and enjoyed ourselves so much that we returned the next night. Every course we both had over the 2 nights (two starters, four mains and 4 desserts) was excellent. The menu had both typical pub classics and slightly more adventurous dishes. Excellent value for money too. The staff... More

The pub is an achievement to find and has good setting. Probably due to thick walls could do with the fire having been lit even lunchtime to warm the chill. There was only one beer on offer and that was quite dear. The meal portions were smaller than I remembered and there was a lack of vegetables. Very friendly service... More

We stopped in here for lunch whilst staying in Slaggyford and were delighted to find a decent selection of veggie options in addition to the usual pub fare. A couple of the options were sold out, but after explaining this the chef very helpfully offered us some alternatives, which proved to be more than satisfactory. Two of us opted for... More

Travelled here after reading the reviews for the pub. Although it is off the beaten track we would highly recommend to anyone! The food was to die for and service was fantastic. We both had Lamb Sunday dinner and everything was home cooked, Yorkshire, mash and roasties. Lamb was cooked to perfection and to top it off it was great... More
