Great pub, cosy fire & very good food.

Called in late on a Sunday lunchtime, after a long snowy walk along the Slaggyford old railway path. A warm welcome from the hosts, cosy fire, good ale and really tasty food. The homemade pies, lamb and chicken dishes were all great and prices were fair. Cannot wait to come back!.

went in earlier today for my birthday lunch, so glad I did. I am local to alston, but the kirkstile has been a bit off my radar for food in the past.MY MISTAKE. we got there at 13.20 and ordered off the menu, they do a sunday roast too[looked delicious]. I had Cock andBull, steak and chicken strips in a... More

I visited here on a weekday evening while doing the Pennine Way. 1st impressions are a small but cosy place in a small village. The wood burner was going strong and the place had a nice warm feel to it. Service was spot on and I was made to feel very welcome. It's places like these that keep small villages... More

This restaurant is not the easiest to find but when you do you are in for a treat. Make sure you are really hungry because you get large portions and if you enjoy sausages you will be in heaven because they are a speciality here. The restaurant is small and cosy and decorated with a gothic theme as the name... More

We had lunch at The Kirkstyle Inn whilst holidaying with friends. It was their idea to go as they had searched tripadvisor and it came up as the top place to eat in the area which is praise indeed. The area is beautiful with lovely views. The pub is small, old and the church pew style seating doesn't make it... More

We have ate there a couple of times and the food and service has been excellent. Lovely country pub selling real ales as well as draft beers and lagers

We first visited this pub about three years ago and was blown away by the quality of the food and the friendliness of the locals. We returned a little warily. After all, after three years, we were bound to be a bit disappointed, surely? Nope, not at all. The welcome was warm, the locals chatty and best of all, the... More

We were holidaying in the area and the inn came recommended by the owner of our holiday cottage. Friendly staff, fantastic meal - hearty home cooked food. See photos! Wide choice for all three courses. We shared a starter, had a main course each, and I couldn't resist a dessert! Absolutely stuffed, but worth it!! We would highly recommend a... More

A Country Pub. An absolutely fantastic place to dine. The service was prompt, the food excellent and the menu wide. Pricing was excellent for the portion size and the staff attentive and pleasant. We visited this place twice and both times it was excellent. If you're in the area you should not give this place a miss.

If you are looking for a traditional pub with quaint atmosphere and some of the best food in the area you have to try here. Julie & Andrew who run the place are two of the most lovely people you could ever meet. This is somewhere where the welcome you receive is real and genuine. Food is second to none... More
