Great food, great beer. It is a little on the small side an often there isn't a table available. Would recommend for a pub lunch as the food is homemade.

Thank you so much for the great review. We ought to fess up though, our own kitchen is tiny so whilst there are some things on the menu we do make from scratch, others are made in local kitchens such as 'Great North Pies' (Handforth), 'Flour, Water, Salt' (Macclesfield) and Galore! (Bollington). We try to use local artisan suppliers whereever... More

Have been going since it opened, on and off. Been to the quizzes on Sundays which are good fun. Started going at lunchtime for a cuppa and occasional sandwich - its always quiet which is nice when you have a busy day. Recently went on saturday night. Busy with usual great atmos. Always worth a visit.

I took eight American undergraduates here for lunch after a tour of the Macclesfield Silk Museum. The staff had in fact recommended the Treacle Tap. The pub lunch was really wonderful and enjoyed by all. I had the cheese and onion pie, a real ale and a sticky toffee pudding. The quality was excellent. All the students enjoyed their meals... More

Called in at lunchtime. Nice, healthy selection on menu. Tried the platter. Good food, nice atmosphere and an edge (local produce, unusual beer). So where are all the people?

Thanks very much for the kind review. If you came in the middle of the heatwave, well, we were a bit quiet as people headed to the cafes and pubs with beer gardens. We are usually busiest when the temperatures drop outside - we are frequently referred to as 'cosy'! More

Visited quite often in march and April 2014 almost 2-3 times a week with friends. Nice and cozy place with awesome staff. Wasabi peanuts and vedett beer is a must try here. They have large variety of beer...

Virtually as soon as The Treacle Tap opened, it was picking up a pub-of-the-season award. Quite rightly. Not only did The Tap lead the way in helping to banish it's Sunderland Street's location former grimy reputation, but also helped pave the way for similar, real-ale orientated bars and pubs. To the point where there's now very few places in the... More

I went in to the treacle tap on a Friday night and I was very disappointed with my time there. The service was terrible very slow and manners were totally out the window. The beer choice was good but the amount of time it take me to get served was totally unacceptable. I will be rushing back there any time... More

Thanks for taking the time to give us feedback. After reading it, we went back to the staff to establish what could have gone wrong. Sometimes it does get a bit packed which makes service difficult, but they believe that the only people they could have offended were the group who insisted on singing football songs so were asked to... Good bar with a lively atmosphere and a good choice of drinks. Live music which was a bonus, two young lads playing blues. I will have to plan another trip so I can visit this bar again.

Good stuff! We are now holding music regularly on a Friday night, and whenever else anyone cares to bring in an instrument. Thanks very much for the kind review. More
