Very pleasant mid-walk lunch

Lovely pub with open fire, lots of nice beers and great food. Friendly staff - everyone seemed to enjoy what they were doing. I had a very filling steak and kidney pudding and missus had steak pie. Fresh and hot. Lots of choice on the menu too. My first visit and will certainly return. It looks... read more

We have been frequenting this Pub for some years now. Their own beer is always great and my husband wanted to try the oatmeal stout that had been stored in a port barrel. We had been put off over the past year or so by average food. However, on a winters night the beer beconned and with good friends we... More

On our way to visit Buxton, friends took us to this lovely pub for lunch. We sampled the beer from the local micro-brewery, very good too. The guy behind the bar was very knowledgeable about the different ales on offer. For lunch we chose, a roasted vegetable and bean soup and decided to share a coronation chicken sandwich. Pleased we... More

We chose the Vale for a Sunday lunch family get together. The staff were very pleasant but not very knowledgeable on availability. We were told that there were only two beef dinners left so three of the party had to have the pork. This was a mistake as the meat was very overcooked and dry and came with a very... More

Well what can I say...locally sourced produced, locally sourced drinks and a fantastic atmosphere. Country dining doesn't get better. Even the manager introduced himself and explained the menu and specials, what a delight. Already booked in for our next meal. Thank you The Vale Inn.

Firstly, everything here is homemade and if it isn't, they've done a great job hiding it. Even the beer is locally sourced and combined with some of their excellent food. The atmosphere is great, obviously a favourite with the locals and always recommended to us and by us. A little pricier than other pubs, it's easily overlooked when considering the... More

My dad printed out some maps for walks. He took along me and my mum, and this pub was recommended in the packs he printed out. The pub is a very welcoming place and it is very cosy - there's even a fire in the corner. Service was really nice and friendly but a little slow (they were quite busy,... More

After a nice walk along the Middlewood way this was an exellent choice for a meal also serving a great choice of ales. We had quale and black pudding scotch egg and a beautiful salad. Really tasty and delicious next to the open fire making the occasion homely. Then before or afterwards explore Bollington and the Miiddlewood Way. KTF

Visited today for a work Christmas team lunch. I had the vegetarian option which was amazing and my colleagues all enjoyed their meals too. There was 8 of us and had pre-ordered due to time constraints and the service was friendly and punctual. I only gave it 4 not 5 as the pastry on my starter was a bit burnt... More

This pub has its own micro brewery that has developed an excellent reputation. We had a good if unadventurous meal, too.
