Went recently for the mid week surf and turf special. The food was fantastic and the value was great. Have been here a good few times over the years on family occasions, the staff are always superb but I never really got the style of cuisine and the high price you pay for the standard menu which seems more like... We had joined friends for an evening out for a birthday celebration. The place was full to capacity when we arrived and although 30 minutes before our reservation we got seated straight away. Bring your own is a great idea and glad to see a lot now offering this. The polite waitress informed us they were running low on food... More

We are now regulars at this restaurant and have enjoyed some great family celebrations. The very economically priced midweek Surf and Turf night now means we can visit more often. The food is always of a high standard and the staff are always attentive and helpful. Bring your own also helps to keep costs down. A really good night out.

Fabulous starters. Wife had chilli squid and i had chilli beef. Amazing. Would recommend. The main meals steak and chicken escolope were great. The staff are attentive and prompt

We went there last Saturday. The starter and main were OK except there was a hair on Julia's plate mixed in with the food. When I mentioned this to the waitress and she said that she would mention it to the chef. For desert Julia had creme Brulee which was scrambled and I had pavola which was mushy and was... More

I was here last night for my boyfriends birthday dinner and I really enjoyed myself. I had the salted chilli prawns to start and haddock and prawn linguine for my main course, it was beautiful. The restaurant itself is quite small and feels a little crowded but I suppose it added to the atmosphere, I'll come back for sure.

This was the first time back to cafe Essence for 5 years and it was very enjoyable. The waiting staff were very friendly and explained the menu choices clearly. My wife and I both had starters and main courses of fish, which were excellent. I will definitely be back again and would recommend this restaurant to anyone and especially if... More

Recent visit after not being here for nearly 2 years and was really looking forward to it ...... And wasn't disappointed. We were in a large party and were accommodated well... Menu had changed and 2 different chalk boards so plenty to choose from. Presentation of the food was excellent and tasted wonderful... Not much room in my stomach for... More
