Just back from my daughter's wedding in the Boathouse. We had 36 guests, family, friends and relatives from Australia. After superb canapes we sat down for the speeches. Mine of course was absolutely brilliant. There was a choice of starters. Chicken terrine, with pickled vegetables and pistachios or fennel cured salmon, mustard greens and fennel creme. The plates were cleaned... More

We went to the Boathouse restaurant for a small family birthday celebration after reading the TripAdvisor reviews: we were not disappointed! The location of the restaurant was a surprise and whilst looking quite small on the outside, the interior is quite Tardis-like! We had duck and smoked eel as starters and both were superb. This was followed with chicken and... More

Have eaten here a number of times each year and it never fails to impress. The food is exquisitely cooked and presented. The Dutch owners are very entertaining and the boat house building is an interesting location in itself. The staff and service are great. Because of the nature of the dishes it's best to be patient for service, it's... More

Can not fault this place, everything about it is excellent!! 11/10 for me, I would urge anyone visiting or living in Bangor, to search this place out. You will not be let down and would be a fool not to try.. I believe it's the closest thing to heaven.. Honestly... So get yourselves down.. You know it makes sense..

My husband and I have been talking about trying this restaurant for a while and I am sorry we didn't go sooner. We decided to try the 5 course taster menu as it was a special occasion. Oh my goodness....each course was amazing!!! The presentation, the flavours, the little bits of things that I don't know what they were but... More

Had a fantastic romantic meal here. We went on a midweek evening when it was nice and quiet. We had the 7 course taster menu and I loved it!! We I've in Belfast and thought it was well worth the journey. The staff and proprietors make you feel very welcome too. I'm still dreaming about a couple of the courses!... More

If you enjoy trying something a little different from the menu when you are out for dinner but don't want to break the bank then this is definitely worth a try. The menu is not extensive which is reasonable for a small kitchen but it is always interesting and I have now been here three times without having the same... More

Bangor is not a gourmets haven. So, thank goodness for The boat House. As you would guess it is on the water front and in a very attractive building. Super warm welcome from one of the owners which will put you instantly at ease. I went straight to table but if you fancy a G&T before your dinner then you... More

Recently had the pleasure to visit the Boat House again. Still brilliant food and service and overall experience. Still the best in Bangor by a mile.
