Just back from the Boathouse and a very satisfying late lunch. The Boathouse has been operating for quite a while and is a rather Tardis-like building beside Bangor Marina. It was formerly the lifeboat station, whiteboard were more fundamental vessels. The restaurant is owned by two Dutch chaps and they do a lot of organic and locally sourced produce. We... More

Ate here tonight Watched other diners putting their coats on whilst eating!!! Then had to put mine on. After finishing the taster menu we sat for a long time with no offer of coffee. By this stage my husband and I were frozen so we left . We ate here before and were really impressed . However tonight we felt... More

Great menu, good value and wonderful friendly customer service. Every year for my birthday i treat myself to a meal at this restaurant My friends were amazed with the presentation and taste of all dishes. The flavours and the way the chef cooks the meals is of one of experience. My guest visiting Northern Ireland from Puerto Rico said that... More

Had a warm welcome here on a cold dreary Saturday afternoon. Wonderful three course lunch and faultless service.

My husband and I sneaked away from the bussle of Christmas for a tasting lunch. It was delicious - full of flavour and variety, we particularly enjoyed the beetroot and crab stater and the duck 3rd course and a raspberry posset which we had to resist licking the plate! It's not an every day restaurant, but well worth the money and... More

I have eaten in this restaurant twice and on both occasions everything was absolutely perfect. It may be described as a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for.The menu is excellent and a fantastic wine selection to accompany what ever you choose to eat. Each course has a recommended wine however you can make your own choice. If your... More

To start I would say, food great and well presented but because of the size of the building and lack of tables they try and make up for this by hiking the prices. Food is presented in a 'Mitchelin Star' way which for many is lovely I'm sure but I like a plate of food and leave satisfied, here just... More

We decided to give The Boathouse in Bangor a try last weekend. It's seaside setting and the fact that it's quaintly housed in an old boat shed adds to its unique appeal. The service from initial greeting until we left was professional and attentive without being overbearing. Regularly topping up our glasses and ensuring everything was to our liking. The... More

Came here for an anniversary dinner. The restaurant was quiet the night we visited but that didn't detract from the food experience. Had three courses and each was expertly created and the perfect portion size. Special mention to the waiter that evening who was courtesy and very polite. Would recommend for a special occasion.

Can't say enough great things about this restaurant, I've been a few times and it never fails to impress. Went for the ala carte menu which is very reasonably priced and great value for money. The starter of smoked copeland island scallops was beautiful which was complemented perfectly with apple and black garlic oil. Then we decided to split a... More
