Came here for an anniversary dinner. The restaurant was quiet the night we visited but that didn't detract from the food experience. Had three courses and each was expertly created and the perfect portion size. Special mention to the waiter that evening who was courtesy and very polite. Would recommend for a special occasion.

Can't say enough great things about this restaurant, I've been a few times and it never fails to impress. Went for the ala carte menu which is very reasonably priced and great value for money. The starter of smoked copeland island scallops was beautiful which was complemented perfectly with apple and black garlic oil. Then we decided to split a... More

Excellent staff and service made for a pleasant evening out. Wine choice was great and loved by all. The menu was also exciting and enjoyed by all. My only comment would be that none of the plates were warm and thus the food cooled quickly, letting down an otherwise perfect evening. I expected more at these prices, hence the average... More

Went here with family for a late-summer Sunday lunch. The attention to detail was exquisite and even everyday foods like carrots and potatoes were brought to life by the chef. There were some seriously classy touches to all the dishes and some unusual combinations of flavour - monkfish with satay sauce was a winner. Service was warm and friendly, and... More

Celebrating my fiancee's birthday with friends. We choose the taster menu, The Boat House has a repritation for being a top fish restaurant, our first course was cauliflower soup with an extremely small piece of salmon in it, the soup bowl had not been warmed and the soup was cool verging on cold, we had venison which was cooked perfectly... Birthday night out so was really looking forward to fine food. 5 course taster started poorly and unfortunately didn't get any better. Was it the fact that the main chef was not there? I have been to other fine dining restaurants and I have to say the taster menu presented in the Boathouse was not near their standard. We certainly... More

Went here last night as it was both myself and my partners birthday. We did the 5 course tasting menu and we're not disappointed. The waitress checked if there were things that we would not eat so that the menu totally consisted of things we liked. Every course was delicious and stunningly presented. The salmon was particularly to die for.... More

A great night out in Bangor ! Six of us went to the Boathouse for a meal to welcome home our daughter and husband. The menu was unusual and exciting. The decor was lovely. Our waiter was very attentive, taking the order for drinks and food promptly.. If there was a down side it was that we were the only... More

Can't rate the Boathouse highly enough. We seem to end up here for every special occasion as it has to be my favourite restaurant ever. Just seems to get better and better.
