Absolutely Fab

There was such a good choice from the specials and the main menu. If popping in for lunch the baguettes sound delicious and it's a shame I live so far away that I can't keep popping in! The food in this charming inn is certainly something to write home about. The dishes are beautifully presented and imaginative. The portions are generous and I can't wait to return to try another dish. We had the lobster spaghetti and the sea bream cooked in coconut milk, after an amazing starter of a pea and mint soup shot with parmesan... More

I celebrated my birthday there last Sunday with friends and we couldn't have had a nicer day. They were extremely accommodating, whether it was about raising the number of guests from 10 to 14, bringing my own cake, having a few kids with us who were running around, feeding their dog under the table and generally talking a lot of... We hadn't been to the Bucks Head for over a year but took my in-laws there for lunch today. We had rung ahead to book a table near one of the fires - but when we arrived, the table allocated was not quite to our liking. This was no problem though and we were quickly shown to another table which... More

I ended up at the Bucks Head by chance last Friday, I have not been in in years but heard that it was under new ownership and thought we would stop by on the off chance that they had a table free for dinner. We arrived and the pub was so welcoming, several warm fires and a lovely atmosphere. Even... More

I've been coming to the Bucks Head pub when visiting family on various weekends for some months now. It has a great British pub look and feel. When I've been there it feels like a mix of friendly regulars, families and couples. So it has a great atmosphere inside. The food is like no other pub I've been to. The... More

My partner and I took our baby daughter here today to meet some friends. When we entered the pub it was very busy, but luckily we had booked a table for lunch. Although the bar was full we were served our drinks immediately and by really friendly staff. When we sat down the restaurant area was warm and homely and... More

Ralph B, Owner at The Bucks Head, responded to this review

I rarely respond to long distance comments, either good or bad, but having personally apologised and reduced their bill by a third, because of their long wait, which was not mentioned i find it hard to accept the harsh criticism, and uninformed comments about the fires. Our kitchen staff would have disagreed that it was not busy. More

Started visiting this lovely little pub in December 2014 and have been back in a weekly basis since. The landlord and landlady are extremely charming people that talk to all their customers as if they have known them for years. They have made us so welcome that I even call it my local now. Carry on the good work 😊
