Visited the beautiful Midland Hotel for Afternoon Tea yesterday. I checked the website before we left and it said it was advisable to book due to popularity. I thought it being a Monday, we'd get a table if we just turned up - wrong! Arriving at the hotel, we were told they were fully booked but we could have a... More

On this occasion we ate in the Rotunda bar on the first night and the restaurant on the second. The tapas style meal was actually better value and more filling than the meal we had in the restaurant - no room for dessert when eating here. Good service and we like the red leather booths.

While staying at Midland Hotel in March we ordered fish+ chips in the Rotunda Bar.The chips were that hard you could not eat them,I think they were potatoes left over from dinner then fried up to go with fish not the hand cut ones on the menue.giving this meal one star would be too generous.

Walking the dogs along the prom, we were pleased to have stopped off for refreshments. We were familiar with the facility as we had stayed in the hotel when it first reopened, so it was nice to see it open to the public. However, price tag remains high on everything so not a place to go if you like paying... More

We were passing through the area and having seen this beautiful building on television decided to have a drink in the bar. People were being seated in the lounge for afternoon tea, but as we were having a meal later (already booked) we did not try this. I think we must have been invisible as staff were so busy having... If I order a cheese and leek open pie (£7.50), I do not expect to wait half an hour for a bar snack, have to ask where the food is, and then be presented with a sandwich-shop type potato pie. Did they think I wouldn't notice? To be fair, the barman agreed straight away that this was not a cheese... More

This is a wonderful bar/restaurant. The views are great and the building is beautiful. We have eaten here a couple of times- the main restaurant menu doesn't appeal but the bar menu is lovely. Very well presented food. The decor is fab, a modern twist but without losing the Art Deco featured. Brilliant

Had a fabulous lunch here with my friend Rowan. The plough mans was huge with lots of meat. It was well presented and tasted Devine. The rotunda bar is very unusual with a very red glow, but with a lovely atmosphere .

Went here on a sunny spring afternoon and it certainly had a great atmosphere. Art deco style with indoor and outdoor seating. Fair price for drinks with quirky toilets.
