The kitchen at the White Swan is focused on doing very little to excellent local ingredients with very rarely more than three flavours on a plate. We make just about everything from scratch in cluding the ketchup and we charge more for it than we would need to if everything came out of a freezer via a microwave. If you are looking for prissy and plastic fine dining then don't expect that here. If you are looking for mountains of cheap food and you don't care where it came from then there are better places to get it.However if you love proper food then I also promise you service from people who are genuinely pleased to be working in our lovely Inn. The AA deems our food good enough for 2 rosettes - and that is without a single smear, smudge or froth in sight. At the other end of the scale, we don't do wrapped butter portions or packets of sauce either (or piped musak). If you want real food in a relaxed experience with great service and a happy atmosphere then come on down. If you want something else - then don't say I didn't warn you.Victor Buchanan - Owner

tasty and fresh

Called in to the white swan on a recommendation by a local. We booked a table. We were greeted on entry and shown to a small side bar. Ordered our food after perusing the extensive menu. Picked out a bacon chop with hand cooked chips and minted peas. We were shown to a dining room, which was lovely... read more

We came at the end of the lunchtime service..... However, that's no excuse for dry food and coleslaw that has been out all day and the mayonnaise has become oily and see through! The burger looked and tasted like it was from a fairground, the bread on the sandwiches was dry and the chicken on the Cesar salad was gray.... More

A very warm welcome given to us by the staff. The food was most enjoyable. A wide choice all freshly cooked for both the evening meal and for breakfast. I would love to go back again, a very enjoyable stay.

I attended a party of approx 30 people for a meal. Our meal choices were provided in advance. The location is beautiful and the room was amazing and perfect for the celebrations. My starter of ham hock terrine was tasteless everyone had roast beef as a main, the beef and vegetables were lovely however it was dry due to lack... More

Charming and lovely atmosphere! Close to our cottage, so convenient as well. Loved the village, cobbled streets and local shops and charming station, which I would recommend to visitors.

I can't comment on the menu as we were served a buffet in the building across from the pub. The service was very hit and miss and there wasn't any draught beer in the annexe, it was bottles. Coke was only served in small bottles, the drinks were expensive for what there was. The food was good quality for a... More

We stayed for two nights in the White Swan. Checking in was very straight forward and we were escorted to our accommodation. This was a superior room in an extension to the hotel. The room was large with a king size bed, dressing gown provided. The bed was extremely comfortable and room well appointed, although for the room price I... More
