The kitchen at the White Swan is focused on doing very little to excellent local ingredients with very rarely more than three flavours on a plate. We make just about everything from scratch in cluding the ketchup and we charge more for it than we would need to if everything came out of a freezer via a microwave. If you are looking for prissy and plastic fine dining then don't expect that here. If you are looking for mountains of cheap food and you don't care where it came from then there are better places to get it.However if you love proper food then I also promise you service from people who are genuinely pleased to be working in our lovely Inn. The AA deems our food good enough for 2 rosettes - and that is without a single smear, smudge or froth in sight. At the other end of the scale, we don't do wrapped butter portions or packets of sauce either (or piped musak). If you want real food in a relaxed experience with great service and a happy atmosphere then come on down. If you want something else - then don't say I didn't warn you.Victor Buchanan - Owner

We visited a couple of weeks ago and booked a table in the bar as we had 2 dogs and 2 children with us. They made us so welcome and the dogs and kids were fussed over! So welcoming and great staff! Fab fish and chips for the children and the vegetarian risotto was delicious! Would highly recommend

Popped in for a coffee on a cold January morning. The team were really welcoming without being intrusive and I had the bar to myself with a nice open fire and a great coffee to enjoy at a relaxed pace. There was no pressure to move on. Great place to while away a little time with a book or paper... More

After being let down by a different restaurant, it's fair to say we arrived at the White Swan Inn fairly disgruntled, but within a few minutes of walking in, all of that fell away due to the wonderful attitude and attention displayed by the staff. We were shown into the restaurant, chairs were held out for us and we were... More

Treated my Mum (and dad) to a Mother's Day Sunday Lunch. Everything was arranged in advance with the hotel by phone and email, and I have to say that the staff were very accommodating. The service was great on the day and my Mum had a lovely afternoon and meal.

We were in Pickering at new year visiting family and needed a dog friendly pub for lunch. This place was a real hit. We were shown into a cosy room with a log fire. The real ale choice was limited to 2 but was well kept. The lunch menu ranged from soup and Sandwich through to very tasty looking a... More

A family of 8 with 2 young children it was a struggle to find a venue not having booked in advance. The staff at The White Swan Inn were very helpful and welcoming, they went out of their way to... Had our Christmas party at lunch time on Tuesday. Fabulous food, excellent service. This is the first time we have visited the White Swan and we certainly will make it a regular for meals. First class al round.
