The kitchen at the White Swan is focused on doing very little to excellent local ingredients with very rarely more than three flavours on a plate. We make just about everything from scratch in cluding the ketchup and we charge more for it than we would need to if everything came out of a freezer via a microwave. If you are looking for prissy and plastic fine dining then don't expect that here. If you are looking for mountains of cheap food and you don't care where it came from then there are better places to get it.However if you love proper food then I also promise you service from people who are genuinely pleased to be working in our lovely Inn. The AA deems our food good enough for 2 rosettes - and that is without a single smear, smudge or froth in sight. At the other end of the scale, we don't do wrapped butter portions or packets of sauce either (or piped musak). If you want real food in a relaxed experience with great service and a happy atmosphere then come on down. If you want something else - then don't say I didn't warn you.Victor Buchanan - Owner

We have eaten here once before and called for Sunday lunch but unfortunately we were too late. We therefore had a drink and some crisps. A pint of beer and a small coke cost £5.85 and 2 small ordinary packets of crisps cost £2.40. Too expensive methinks!

The staff are quite lovely and the food extremely good quality and thankfully some areas within are dog friendly. This is a gastro pub/restaurant/hotel and worth every penny. If you like really good food in a genteel atmosphere you really will enjoy this establishment - we certainly did! This topped our short break off on a high note. A big... More

An excellent dinner at the White Swan last week. The soup and goat's cheese appertisers were excellent. We also enjoyed the Ribeye (cooked to perfection - medium rare - which for some reason in the UK is hard to do!). Deserts: artisanal cheeses were delicious & a chocolate cake that was outstanding. This is a delightful location for dinner, with... More

We came at the end of the lunchtime service..... However, that's no excuse for dry food and coleslaw that has been out all day and the mayonnaise has become oily and see through! The burger looked and tasted like it was from a fairground, the bread on the sandwiches was dry and the chicken on the Cesar salad was gray.... More

A very warm welcome given to us by the staff. The food was most enjoyable. A wide choice all freshly cooked for both the evening meal and for breakfast. I would love to go back again, a very enjoyable stay.

Called in to the white swan on a recommendation by a local. We booked a table. We were greeted on entry and shown to a small side bar. Ordered our food after perusing the extensive menu. Picked out a bacon chop with hand cooked chips and minted peas. We were shown to a dining room, which was lovely and cool.... More
