In Pickering for the day, decided time for lunch so went into Capplemans restaurant. Very pleasant greeting by staff, order taken. The food was cooked well, tasty and value for money. BUT we spent the whole time swotting flies that were landing on us, and trying to land on the food. There were loads, we saw other people doing the... More

Had the chicken bites and chips and I was very satisfied with the food. Service could have been friendlier but you couldn't complain about the speed of the service!

We visited Capplemans with a friend. We both had dogs, and were pleased that the dogs were welcomed into the restaurant, despite not our checking in advance. The range of food was much more extensive than we had anticipated, and I had a lovely cheese and onion omelette as I am gluten free. Nothing was too much trouble for the... More

We had a takeaway from here, they claim to have the finest fish and chips in Yorkshire!!! I don't think so...the fish was ok but a little greasy. The chips had been cooked in oil that was clearly not hot enough as they were soft and very greasy...

What a great fish and chip shop. We made the mistake of ordering medium fish and chips. The fish was enormous and we both had to leave chips. Asked the very helpful lady who served us as to what a large would have been and was told it would have hung off the plate. Not to be missed.

Four of us had the fish and chip specials here recently, (they come with tea/coffee and bread and butter). The fish was beautifully moist and the batter lovely and crispy. We enjoyed it so much we came again the next night!

The place is tired looking and has only been open around a year or so I think but everywhere is just grubby looking. The tables are wonky. The toilet downstairs is very Manky. Service was ok - no personality to the waitress whatsoever. Fish and chips were ok. Nothing about this place makes me want to rush back.

I recently ate lunch here. The fish, chips, and mushy peas were excellent and the service was friendly. and efficient. This restaurant is easy to find; it's a very short walk from the Beck Isle Museum and North Yorkshire Moors Railway, two of Pickering's main attractions. Highly recommended!

Really liked the fact you could have a small, medium or large portion of fish, peas and chips. This was ideal for us as we are quite small eaters and are do not enjoy overflowing plates or tums! Great value too. It was lovely to sit down and enjoy at leisure though they also do takeaways of course.
