Last year my partner and I had the best fish and chips we'd ever had from Maddys. We were looking forward to much the same this evening but, disappointingly, we've just had the worst chips we've ever had! The batter was soggy and the chips were undercooked and greasy. Looking at the other reviews, we may have caught them on... More

these are probably the best, sit- down resturaunt, fish and chips in Ilfracombe. With their own takeaway fish bar next door Abbey's fish and chips cater for every taste in the town.

Had fish and chips from Maddys on New Years Eve and have to say that they were the best we have had for a long time. They just melted in your mouth. Please if looking for a decent choppy in Ilfracombe open all year round then go here, you will not be disappointed

We always have a fish supper from here, usually once a fortnight. The cod or haddock is very tasty and the batter isn't too wet. In the last 8 months we've never been disappointed, that's 64 fish suppers in all and all the same fine quality.
