Ilfracombe was looking very grey and grizzly on the damp Friday evening our party of three women visited this well-reviewed restaurant in the middle of the High Street. We got a lovely warm welcome and kicked off by sharing a tartlet starter, which the chef kindly split into three so we didn't have to grapple with a single portion. Mains... More

Many thanks for your lovely review, it was so nice to see you both again and we are delighted that you enjoyed your lamb hotpot - it is one of our most popular lunch specials this time of year, homemade with local lamb - yummy! We will look forward to seeing you both again next time you venture onto the... More

I was fortunate enough to be able to visit Combe Cottage on a recent visit to Ilfracombe and as always I was not disappointed. I was treated to tasty home cooked food in a friendly relaxing atmosphere, which was also excellent value. I hope to return soon.

Ended up eating here in the 4 days we were visiting Ilfracombe as the first meal was so lovely. Food is excellent, fresh, hot and filling. Wonderful atmosphere and a very lovely couple running this beautiful restaurant. We were made to feel so welcome and looked after that we will definitely be going back there on our next visit. Thank... More

We visited Combe Cottage due to other trip advisor reviews but I'm afraid were a little disappointed. The food, which was fresh and homecooked, well presented and tasty, was no more than I would have cooked at home. More disappointing though was the ambience and the service - we were the only people to be dining at 7.30 pm on... More

Popped in for lunch just after the easter weekend. I had cottage pie and my partner had steak and pie. Both dishes were stunning so tasty! Finished off with a lovely slice of cake and good coffee. Well worth a visit.

Many thanks for your lovely review, the Cottage Pie has been one of our best sellers ever since Tom Parker Bowles declared it 'perfection on a plate' in the national news some years ago with the Steak and Ale Pie also a favourite. Its amazing what a difference home made with local produce can make :) More

We were thoroughly disappointed with the very slow service (although attentive) and poor food offered. There were 5 of us and the only customers in the restaurant. The starters were poor to mediocre, the lemon couscous in my mains were mushy instead of fluffy, the vegetables were so hard that one could not get the fork in and the chocolate... More

Obliviously we are extremely disappointed with your rather scathing review. We are also somewhat confused as we do remember your party and certainly nobody complained, in fact, with the exception of yourself, everybody appeared to have a really good evening - so much so that we remember quite clearly one of the ladies in your party (seated next to you... We ate here on Easter Sunday evening. At 18.95 for 3 courses - a great value option. Our choices were goats cheese tart, damon and prawn cocktail, chorizo black pudding and potato cakes (starters) and beef stroganoff, chicken tagine and lamb shoulder on minted potato (mains) Chocolate mouse and bread and butter pudding (desserts) All were absolutely excellent. A great restaurant on the high street, with welcoming hosts and cosy setting. The soup was one of the best tasting I've ever had and if the lamb and mint mash is on the menu you simply have to order it! Wonderful food at super value for money prices.
