Top class food

First time in Ilfracombe but we will be back just to eat here again. Three courses of beautifully presented food, fresh subtle and full of flavour. Worth the visit if you are anywhere nearby, this chef can really cook!

Four of us stayed at the Olive Branch guest house & had our Saturday night meal in The Olive Room. It was fantastic. We had 3 different starters, 3 different mains & 2 different desserts between us and they were ALL amazing! Thomas Carr is the chef and he is a magician with food. They should be getting a Michelin... More

Exquisite taster menu, 7 courses £55..Thomas Carr must be well on his way to getting his first Michelin star. The taster menu could be complemented by recommended wines throughout. The service was just right and the meal well paced. The freshness of the lobster was demonstrated by an appearance of the wriggling crustacean prior its arrival on the plate. .

Wow! What a fabulous restaurant. It was recommended to us by the proprietors of our hotel, and we booked ahead for the evening of our Anniversary. I'm so glad we did: it was a meal that I will always remember. The restaurant is quite small and unpretentious, but friendly and welcoming. We chose the £55 per head tasting menu of... More

A very enjoyable experience and probably the best meal I have ever had in a restaurant.I would definitely like to go back again, the only problem being that I would want exactly what I had this time but will really try to have something different.

All of the food is a work of art, the fish is caught off of Lundy Island, i overheard went in for dessert only and had Lemon curd parfait with poached cherries and frozen yoghurt. Perfection. The parfait was fresh and zesty and combined with the cherries, meringue and frozen yoghurt. Totally reat service and a lovely atmosphere in the... More

Wow! who would have thought there would ever be food this good in a sleepy corner of sleepy Ilfracombe. A sublime tasting menu to rival anywhere in Europe and in an unpretentious setting with excellent and friendly service.

First time at this restaurant and there to celebrate a wedding anniversary with friends. We chose the tasting menu at £55pp at which price, we were expecting some exceptional food and we were not to be disappointed. There were interesting and varied food combinations with unusual and adventurous flavours. Presentation of every dish was excellent. The wine list is not... More
