We were amazed that Ilfracombe has so many really good restaurants, but the food at the Olive Room was the best for the quality of the food. The place itself is small (about 8 tables) and more for couples than families with younger kids. The sole maitre d' /waitress was delightful and the service good. A fairly small menu and... More

Was really surprised to find food of this standard outside of London or a luxury Hotel. Planning to return soon before the Michelin guide find it and the prices go up! Top fine dining experience at incredible good value.

This is our fourth visit to the olive room, I must say the food standard has improved since our last visit and the service remains first class. I would recommend booking a table before your visit to make sure you are able to go at the time you wish.

You are warned on entry that the chef will be preparing the meals in the order they are given to him and Carr. This is worth waiting your meal to come to you.

We were staying at the Olive Branch Guest House so we decided to try the Olive Room. One of our main joys on holiday is to sample the delights of various restaurants, being great foodies ourselves. The Olive Room for us proved to be the most amazing dining experience that we have ever had. It was great fun ordering our... More

We were really looking forward to trying this place and it was fantastic. Lovely to have a freebie in the pre starter and bread. The mackerel in a bisque was amazing. We all had the beef rump which was gorgeous. Chef only charged for two out of three portions of chips as they weren't exactly as he wanted, however we... More

First time in Ilfracombe but we will be back just to eat here again. Three courses of beautifully presented food, fresh subtle and full of flavour. Worth the visit if you are anywhere nearby, this chef can really cook!

Four of us stayed at the Olive Branch guest house & had our Saturday night meal in The Olive Room. It was fantastic. We had 3 different starters, 3 different mains & 2 different desserts between us and they were ALL amazing! Thomas Carr is the chef and he is a magician with food. They should be getting a Michelin... More
