Surprisingly good

Went on a blustery day and was looking for somewhere to shelter out of the wind. Ordered the fish, chips and peas special and it was really great. Some of the best fish I've ever had!

Huge portions, delicious, crispy fish and chips in a clean, airy space with lovely views of the beach and cliffs -- very cheery service, family oriented, good prices for lunches and dinners. If we return, we will definitely revisit for a meal and the atmosphere.

Had takeaway chips. Service could have been better. Only really should have hsd 1 portion of chips between us as it was so big. Not enough vinegar but chips very hot and freshly cooked.

It's not just the chips I find so good about them. It's the fact you can sit down and have a proper meal as well. The view from the café area over Ilfracombe beach is astounding! I will definitely visit again.

Stopped in to Ilfracombe Fryer as we were on our way to another restaurant! So glad we did. We received a warm and friendly welcome and I liked the seaside theme of a beach bucket for the condiments. I ordered plaice and was astonished when the chips were brought out in a bowl. Then I saw the plaice! My goodness... More

Look, I am knowmn for honesty and brutal , frank opinions. If you visit this Fish and Chip restaurant on Ilfracombe sea front (Promenade), don't be put off by the menu card. It is pricy, around £7.00 for most meals, but Ilfracombe is one of the most (or the most) expensive seaside resorts in North Devon. Ilfracombe's cafes and Pubs... More

My husband and I visited while having a few days break. I've got to say the fish & chips were excellent and the portions very generous. A lovely comfortable place with very friendly staff, a special mention for Kim who made us very welcome. Will definately visit again.

Being from Grimsby finding somewhere that does decent fish and chips around the country is few, but WOW this place was lovely, our first night we came here, the restaurant was already busy when we got in but was seated straight away for 5 of us. The menu had plenty of choice, I had the Cod fillet with curry sauce... More
