Superb fish restaurant

If you like fish, then you won't go wrong by choosing this restaurant. The fish is freshly caught, so menu varies according to the catch. I had mussels cooked in cider and creme fraiche, followed by Brill. It was so delicious. You have to book as it is a very popular restaurant. Staff and owner... read more

Tried to book this restaurant but they don't accommodate children so went elsewhere. We were very disappointed but apparently it's a small place

We had seabass and turbot - both excellent and delicious desserts. Good location near The harbour and a car park.

Despite being spoilt for choice with some beautiful restaurants in Ilfracombe, out meal here rates amongst the best. Fantastic food, beautiful flavours and attentive and friendly staff. A truly lovely evening all round!

One of the nicest meals I've had in a long time, and not too expensive either. I started with the potted crab, which was lovely and then had the Torbay sole with mussels - the fish was perfectly cooked and the saffron sauce really flavoursome without overwhelming the dish. My husband's hake (his favourite fish) was also a winner. To... More

Eat at Take Thyme on the last night of our Devon holiday. There were seven of us and although it is a small restaurant we were very comfortable and not at all cramped. The dishes on offer were all mouth watering and we all thoroughly enjoyed them. The John Dory was particularly good. The wine we initially chose was out... More

After a gap of several years we visited Take Thyme for our anniversary. Why had we waited so long! We had a really warm welcome, the menu was described to us and recommendations made from the specials board. The food was beautiful, cooked perfectly and the small intimate atmosphere was lovely. I can recommend without hesitation.

Love in every dish - it is about Take Thyme. Take your time, and visit, you will absolutely love it. And if you are lucky and there is a John Dory on the menu, make sure you try it. Every dish is cooked and served with so much care and love. Tara and her husband made our dining experience the... More

Attentive service and quality food. Recommend this for a nice quiet dining experience. Excellent fish cooked to perfection and a very enjoyable dinner. Ambiance just right.

How refreshing to find such a lovely, unpretentious restaurant serving fresh fish with charming service. My John Dory was cooked to perfection in a simple wine and pesto sauce and the mussels were an equally delicious starter. Our waitress had a cheeky wit making the whole dining experience worthy of a follow up visit before leaving Ilfracombe...
