We booked here last minute and although it's a small restaurant they were happy to accommodate 11 people. They even rang us the next day to tell us the latest catches which would be on the menu that evening. Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances they had to close the restaurant the evening we had booked on. In most cases this... More

We crawled off the ferry from Lundy seeking sustenance, but most places seemed full of tourists - couldn't even get a seat in the Wetherspoons. This place looked okay and there were spare tables so in desperation we tried it. My wife had what she thinks were the best mussels ever, and my steak was cooked to perfection. Add in... More

Whilst visiting friends in Ilfracombe they recommended Take Thyme. Luckily we booked as on our arrival it was full. There was a genuine welcome from Tara, the host. She was lovely ensuring everyone in the restaurant were happy. I had never seen anyone take so much care and genuine interest without being intrusive in any restaurant before. I had muscles... More

Booked just the afternoon we wanted to go - they suggested we went an hour later than planned to ease service ( which was a sign of good management). It is a small room but everyone was happy and the welcome was very warm. Wine was reasonable price as was the food. . The fish cake starter was delicious and... More

Had a lovely meal here. We hadn't booked but they managed to squeeze us in and then moved us to a nicer table before our food came. Very friendly service, almost like you are a friend rather than a customer. The fish I had was very fresh (sometimes you have fish that doesn't actually taste that 'fishy' but this was... More

Visited again recently, had a lovely welcome from Tara despite having messed her about with a late cancellation recently. Food was excellent, the sardines & mussels were superb, the steaks were also very good. We had a vegetarian with us, she really appreciated having a choice too. Will definitley return.

Our B&B was near Holy Trinity Church, at the other end of town, but a fish restaurant was what we wanted. We hadn't booked but, luckily, arrived as a table was being vacated. The owner twice confessed to being 'distracted', which delayed the delivery of a couple of things. However, we did not have to wait long for our food,... More
