We stumbled upon this quaint little pub on the recommendation of a fellow walker when we crossed paths during the inspirational Torrs walk between Ilfracombe and Lee. The village looks less like and more of a forgotten location, however, following the instructions given to us, we headed away from the seafront (such as it was) and up a track past... More

Stayed near by, and this would have been a great find if it had been any good. To be fair the food I had was alright, but the rest of the families was awful, never went back for the remainder of our holiday. The food was brought to the table in stages (I got mine forst as obviously it was... More

We were a party of six adults and three children and pre booked. We sat inside and ordered our drinks. The J2o (or equivalent) from the tap were literally like water - undrinkable, so these went back. Replaced by 3 juices from a jug, which tasted tainted by something soapy. Beer was off as well. Offered to pay for drinks,... More

Awful place , the landlord is not interested in being nice to anyone, the food is adequate, the staff , well to be served a meal by a girl wearing grubby shorts. the beer is awful and most of the the food on the menu is off, everything seems grubby . the tables outside are falling apart and the garden... Popped up to one of our fav pubs in North Devon for an early meal for two at 18.55, food starts at 19.00 and already getting busy! The usually good service and food seems to have evaporated at least for tonight. First two main items on the menu sold out at 19.00 - esp the Chicken & Leek pie! so... More

Tucked away in a valley, this pub has great food and a friendly atmosphere. We were lucky enough to hear local musicians rehearsing as well. Worth heading off the beaten track for.

not sure why this pub gets such good reviews. Went there on the basis of those reviews but the journey was not worth it The menu is uninspiring and the surroundings run down. Garden is lovely in good location but tables and benches in such a state and the service was at best chaotic. The menu was so poor we... More

We stopped at the Grampus on a splendid circular walk from Ilfracombe. We were walking with our 2 small girls so timed our visit to avoid the rush that has been reported on here. I thought the ham they served was excellent and my wife was very happy with the the Stilton ploughman's. The pub offered small portion of any... More

A beautiful old building in a stunning part of Devon, The Grampus is a fab example of what a British pub ought to be. Quaint building, nicely decorated, serving great beer - delicious (and lethal, though we were warned!) cider and great pub grub at reasonable prices. The steak was one of the best EVER (clearly from happy local cow!)... More

We ate here on 2 consecutive nights, and the experience was brilliant. I've rated this as what it is, a small village pub that does food. A small menu, but our food was cooked perfectly. The place can be a bit chaotic if they suddenly get a couple of tables of 10, like they did on our second night, but... More
