A hidden gem of a traditional pub

We walked to Lee Bay from Woolacombe and were glad to stumble across The Grampus Inn, from the outside it doesn't look much, but, inside it is a gen of a traditional pub, low beams, log fire and a good selection of drinks. Many of the drinks on offer are locally brewed, they also serve food... read more

Local to where I was staying, I found the Grampus a very welcoming place, with fine local brews made on the premises. After a heavy 10 mile walk I re- energized on the local Dark Side stout and gluten free sausage and mash. (I have to say the best I've had for a long time) They have open mic night... More

We have visited this pub in Lee bay on numerous occasions over the years whilst visiting the surrounding area.apart from evening meals we have often had a ploughman's lunch as we did this time.we all commented it was nice but disappointing in quantity and variety.instead of the usual crusty bread it came with something resembling Melba toast .there was no... This 14th century pub is recommended in Secret Beaches by Rob Smith. It has a good range of veggie food - Maggie had a generous bowl of garlic mushrooms, followed by really fresh and delicious Asian greens and rice, stir fried, and a good bowl of hand carved chips. I had gravlax, delicious local trout, a generous amount on my... More

Dear me. Have visited a couple of times and ate pretty well, despite a long wait. Alas, I can only assume that demons have been unleashed in the kitchen because this was one of the worst pub meals I've sampled in aeons. The food (using that term loosely) arrived quickly. Too quickly. You would think it would not be easy... More

After a long drive from Oxford our first night in Devon was marred by the atrocious food we received at the Grampus inn, the lasagne was dry and tasteless, my partners steak and chips were cold and the chips tasted like they were cooked in dirty oil and the place even smelt like dirty chip shop oil. It was dark... More

Rated for location as much as food & drink - decent menu, own-brewed beer. Parked in village car park, took in the fantastic otherworldly shardy grey bay, walked up to the pub 90 mins before food time...played table tennis in the garden then dommies & pool in the back bar while waiting. Something engagingly slightly wild & on the edge... More

We found it useful to have booked a table in this small pub/restaurant at the end of some narrow lanes in Lee Bay. Our party included a young child and a baby and we were made to feel welcome at all times. There is limited parking but I'd think, if the car park is full then the restaurant probably is... More
