Excellent pies

My friend, her dog and I walked round Langsett Reservoir and then called in for lunch. My friend was glad of the stop, she had found the walk rather hilly! She, therefore chose pie (meat and potato) followed by pie (bilberry), to renew her energy level. She enjoyed both courses and, although it was from the set lunch menu, she... More

A nice pub with great views and pleasant staff ruined by a bolshy landlady and one of the most disappointing roast dinners we have ever had. It didn't start well when we went to the bar and witnesses the public telling off of one of the staff by the landlady. However the food did smell good so we ordered the... More

The Waggon & Horses at Langsett is a lovely, fabulously-located pub which we have visited many, many times over the years, and where we have had numerous excellent meals. So on a recent walk around the reservoir I was looking forward to calling in for a pint, as the beer was always reliably exceptional there. As indeed it was this... More

Dined this evening 27th March. Had standard meat potato pie. Very nice once again my favorite pub for meat pies. Had treacle sponge & Custard nice too. Nice and cosy inside with coal fire. Well worth it.

Called in here following a hike round Langsett, we had called in the Bank View Cafe only to be completely ignored for 20 minutes. The Pub had a busy day but they catered for us with friendliness and efficiency. We all had really nice pie and the real ale was superb. I can see where some people may find the... More

The Waggon and Horses is renown for its pies and many people go just for the pies, my husband included. They never fail to satisfy him and if he can follow a savoury pie with bilberry pie, then he's in heaven. I'm not pie fond but there is usually something on the menu that takes my fancy, but if not... More

Ridiculously expensive beer. I went to the toilet upstairs when a member of staff followed me in to the toilet to complain that I had not removed my boots. I had not seen the TINY sign on the way in and I don't think as a grown adult I should have to remove my shoes if I don't want to.... More

4 for lunch today and we all had the meat and potato pie with mushy peas and red cabbage. The pies are substantial and very tasty indeed. Prices are on the high side of average, but everything is home made from good quality ingredients. The pub is friendly and welcoming with a very nice atmosphere - I almost look forward... More

We heard some good reviews about the wagons famous pies, so we thought the rest of the menu would also be good, we ordered Sunday lunch with the beef, it arrived within 5 minutes, 1 slice of beef, 2 roast potatoes, 1 spoonful of mash and 1 spoonful of cold peas and a poor excuse for a Yorkshire pud.waitress brought...
