Meat And Potato Pie EXCELLENT. Shame about everything else. The starter's very poor and on the tight side with one dip to share between 2. The staff miserable.

My first impression was not to good ,as we had to wait until the bar staff finished their conversation before they acknowledged our presence. The beer was excellent as was the food . It would have been better if the chips had been home made ,rather than the frozen type ,Had to wait a while for the food coming but it... More

The Waggon and Horses has been fortunate to pick up a lot of trade recently from Le Grand Depart passing just outside its door. Like the cyclists of the peleton, I suggest you too fly past not stopping en-route to your destination wherever that may be. The food is poor, overpriced with service to match. To add insult to injury... More

Went to the Waggon and Horses on 23 July to celebrate my Dad's birthday. It's a lovely old pub with a gorgeous outlook from the beer garden over Langsett reservoir. I'd been here several times but not to eat. We opened a tab and ordered drinks and at 7pm went back to the bar to order our food. Barmaid was... More

Went to the waggon and horses (or Pedallers Inn as it has been renamed for the TDF) after a bike ride with friends. The location is second to none and the beer garden is lovely, however...... Ensure you are prepared to pay high prices for average food and drink £12.50 for a gammon. £12.50!!! It wasn't even that nice or... More

Did not want us in as we had been walking, were told we could have food and drink but to sit outside.... In march.... In drizzle.... Or we could go across road to cafe.... Needless to say we went to cafe.... And have been back to cafe many times since, and not once to this pub... A pub in countryside... More

Been going here for years and it never changes. The meat and potato pies are the best and complimented with mushy peas and pickled red cabbage only adds to the experience. Mum is the cook (or has been each time I have been) and I always get a hug from Vanda (the daughter).. To travel from Bristol for this delight... More

I went to the W&H last week as hadn't been for a while but I have been going there for nearly 20 years. The Steak Pot Pie was as good as ever. The W&H is a traditional country pub specialising in home cooking, not poncey nouvelle-cuisine, and nor does it pretend to be a fast-food outlet. The food is all... More
