Dinner for four people, quality was exceptional and atmosphere terrific. I would highly recommend this restaurant. Great place to enjoy. Ian Sinclair.

Staying for the great north run we thought to try the Sambuca on the eve of the run. Walking in we were shown to a table downstairs and told the table for 2 would be 5 mins. 20 minutes later we were borderline leaving the place before being told the table was ready. Wouldn't have minded the wait but no... More

At first we were a bit skeptical when we stood outside and looked at the menu and the prices, why so cheap we asked ourselves. Once inside we were greeted by a lovely bubbly receptionist who asked us if we had booked, unfortunately we hadn't booked but this was not a problem, we waited for around 15 minuets for our... More

Nice staff and reasonable cheap food - you only get what you pay for. A casual restaurant but can be crowded with not much room between tables. Stairs can be a bit daunting as they are very steep. Reception area with bar seems to only cater for big groups. Regardless of criticism people seem to vote with their feet and... More

I would never again eat in this place, 6 of us went and not one of us had a nice meal. I got the potato skins to start they horrible, I didn't think it was possible to make these to such a poor standard. They looked look they had sat there under a heat lamp waiting to be served for... More

As it's four years since my last visit I had prayed things would of improved, sadly this is not the case ! Table for 5 ( only waited about 10 mins so it was a good start ) We were seated at a ok table, not as cramped or squashed in as some of the others. The 3 course lunch... More

I had a pizza, and even for four pounds it was poor value. Horrendous runny orange cheese made us feel awful. Weirdly, the surf n' turf was about £16 and included an overdone steak and a few prawns. Not an attractive restaurant either. Nice staff and super cheap bill were the only redeeming features.

I just love Sambuca’s in Whitley! The food is almost always delicious and great value for money; the atmosphere is almost always relaxed and friendly; and the service is almost always excellent. Tonight was a special occasion, as we were entertaining guests, so I was keeping my fingers crossed . . . . . I need not have worried! Everything... More

The kids like to get their pizzas here. but for the fifth time in a row they have got our orders wrong. To be clever I ordered a takeout of 3 pizzas. They even wrote on the boxes what was in them...but it was something else inside. I give in!
