I visited the Grapevine mid-week and thoroughly enjoyed the evening from start to finish. The restaurant is tastefully decorated with a charming ambience and, although I usually dine alone, I always feel totally comfortable in the Grapevine. I received a very warm welcome from Peter the owner and was looked after very well by the staff throughout my meal. The... More

They had changed their name from the Bay Bistro but frankly that did not matter. Food was exceptional and as I had booked for my Wife's Birthday they made it even more lovely. Starters were perfect mine a Salmon and Prawn parcel; hers Pear and Blue cheese salad. My Angus Steak main course was brilliant with twice cooked chips; her... More

My husband and I visited this restaurant and thought it was a lovely smart restaurant in Whitley Bay. What a disappointment. The menu looked interesting and we ordered starters and mains. The food on the plate was very small for the starter and when the mains arrived, we both felt they were skimping on food as again very very small.... More

This was our second visit to Grapevine, the first was an early menu during the week which we thoroughly enjoyed and recommended to others. However we then tried a Saturday night. The female staff were pleasant and friendly but I get the feeling the guy doesn't want under 40's in the restaurant! We just ordered mains as we wanted desert.... More

Just had Sunday lunch at the Grapevine for the first time. If you haven't already tried it, you are really missing out! Reminded me so much of the wonderful Sunday lunch that my Mum used to make - loads of meat, rich meaty gravy, roast potatoes and a fab selection of vegetables, not forgetting an amazing Yorkshire pudding (so many... Have been regulars here for some time, although less frequent since they moved to larger premises and two miles further from our front door. Friday night reminded us why. After our starters (Goats Cheese; Salmon & Prawn Parcel) my partner elected for the Wild Boar ragu. A favourite which didn't disappoint. I opted for a Fillet Steak with peppercorn sauce.... More

Our party of 8 celebrated a family birthday at Grapevine last night. We had a wonderful evening. Food, presentation, service and ambience all excellent. Varied menu with lots of choice, all the courses were beautifully presented and tasted fresh and delicious. Portion sizes were just right and staff were very friendly and courteous. Definitely worth a second visit!

Very happy we decided to try this restaurant, food is excellent and is as good as anywhere in whitley bay, very well presented and a great atmosphere to match! We have ate in most of the best restaurants in the northeast and would highly recommend if your looking for somewhere new! Keep up the good work and we will be... More

My husband and I brought my elderly mother for sunday lunch for the second time in a few weeks. At our first visit we made the mistake of not asking for a small portion for my mother. On that occasion she thoroughly enjoyed her meal but could not eat it all. This time, we asked for a small portion and... More

I eat here often, and whether its early bird, lunchtime,a la carte,or Sunday lunch, the menus are that bit different to anything offered elsewhere in Whitley Bay/Tynemouth area. Food always of excellent quality and attractively presented. Its a gentle, peaceful place and I find it easy to relax there. Most surprising of all is that it offers VERY GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY, and...
