On first glance, the Laughing Buddha is not particularly striking as it is hidden in between staircases which pass from behind M&S to the street leading to the government building. However, the food is lovely and the service friendly and I have been quite a few times and have always received the same treatment. Inside, the restaurant is slightly outdated... More

Went here on New Years Eve it was very busy. However only one staff towards the end of the night. Plate was snatched of our hands. Very rushed service. The food usual heavy MSG, and Satay sauce have remarkable or interesting stale after taste.

Last we week arrived at the Laughing Buddha, for a post Christmas function. We had a ordered set meal B for 3 and some of us set meal D for 2. As there was 14 of us, others ordered individually from the normal menu. When we got the bill, the owner tried to over charged us. He told us that... More

On arriving to this simple and local Chinese restaurant with a very noisy party in full swing, really didn't know if we had chosen well. How wrong we were! The owner tried his best to sit us out of ear shot of the party then never took his eye off our needs while supplying Top food and service. Word of... More

Went last night as part of a 50th birthday barry group. We were shown in, sat down & sorted for drinks promptly, had the usual prawn crackers with some nice sauce too. When all were arrived food was served, were went for a banquet meal with starters, crispy duck then beef with black beans, chicken satay, rice & vegetables. All... More

I called in for a meal on my own whilst on a work trip. The place was recommended by a couple of locals and this turned out to be a good recommendation. I found it a little expensive compared with the area I live in but having said this the food was very tasty and well cooked and presented. A... More

Just back from lunch at Laughing Buddha and it was excellent as usual. 2 course lunch including tea or coffee at £9. Choice of about 6 starters and 6 main courses. Chris the owner was his usual polite and friendly self. Food was lovely and great value. We have been using this restaurant for 15 + years and I have... More

7 of us were recommended the laughing Buddha while out here for the TT. We turned up at the door and immediately got a feeling we were in my Nan's front room. Old decor, poor lighting and heating too hot. The owner was very controlling towards other staff. They didn't really do anything by themselves without the owner instructing them.... More

Having read the reviews on trip advisor we decided to try the Laughing Buddha on a recent holiday to the Isle of Man. We were greeted by the owner who proceeded to look after us extremely well. The food was excellent as was the service. We would certainly recommend this restaurant when in Douglas. It is such a pity that... More

Although a little difficult to find, and not that appealing to look at, this is a little gem. The food and service were both of a high standard, at a reasonable price. Of particular note was the friendliness of the staff. Well worth a visit.
